    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The problem with content that isn't covered is the cost to broadcast games at a quality that people are willing to pay for. It costs heaps to broadcast sport Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ARU fee structure change for 2015

That's a bloody lot of money for U6's. We don't have u6 in Townsville but our fees are around $190 or $200 this year for juniors (starting at u8s), but we also pay a weekly players fee of $5 a week which takes some of the sting out of that upfront component. That pays for our Townsville Rugby...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

How much was it last year? Are you in Qld? Metro or regional?

ARU fee structure change for 2015

One can only hope that if blood is spilled, the ARU and states look to implement a model for participation that is inclusive of all of the ways that people interact with the game. Continuation of the petty politics that have plagued the game for the best part of a century will continue to fail...

    Reds 2015

You can really only wish them luck. Tough way to start the year. QC (Quade Cooper) had been working so hard. Fingers crossed for the rest of the group to stay healthy. I was pretty surprised by Holmes' injury - 9 weeks for a thumb ligament sounds ridiculous, it must be pretty nasty. Sent from my iPhone...

JOC (James O'Connor) when available, and I imagine Hunt will be looking to do the same - moving in from the edges in attack to take the pressure off the new 10. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Wallaby Locks

It's all about depowering the scrum. Personally I don't think it's safer (the Bajada scrum packs using this technique), but that's the IRB U19 law variation as it exists. As mentioned in a previous post - I think NZ have a dispensation on this law in their juniors, although I'm not sure at what...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

There's certainly a lot of discontent from the people who hold voting entitlements. It was interesting to re-read the Arbib report on governance in Australian Rugby (which was prompted by the Roar article posted here last week). The report discusses the issues that surround our organisations...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

I can't remember anyone claiming that the grassroots is directly paying for the professional game. The ARU and states have community rugby programs that will no longer be paid for by the professional game, and this will improve the bottom line of those organisations. Any thinking that the...

ARU fee structure change for 2015

That's a pretty significant amount of money. We do pay playing fees weekly, so the total spend for the year will be more than that, but as an upfront amount, that's huge.

ARU fee structure change for 2015

All that money from memory is State Govt grants - primarily for infrastructure, although some was for the QLD Govt Sports Coordinator grants I think. The TDRU haven't received QRU funding since 2011 I believe.

    Wallaby Locks

People have told me that NZ have dispensations and crotch bind from u14 or u16? Can't be sure... Agree with the rest of your assessment Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's really disappointing for Simmons. Hopefully he doesn't have a season like so many players who manage shoulder injuries throughout the year.

Yes, you're right, which is why, imo development camps like the Waratahs fat kids camp for props are a great idea. There should be one for locks.

ARU fee structure change for 2015

The fees will only raise $5M though. It needs to be very clear to people that this is not about bailing out the ARU - the money is being raised entirely from the community game, for the community game. The problem we have, is that there is no transparency about what the community game actually...

This made me laugh. A lot.

ARU fee structure change for 2015

Love this: “An organisation that ignores its shareholders or takes them for granted, except on the handful of occasions where it has no choice but to seek their endorsement, should not be surprised when it meets a cold reception.” “While the Wallabies might be the financial engine of...

    Wallaby Locks

I can mean their development is stifled. Junior coaches (particularly at rep level) are probably more focused on getting a win up rather than developing a big uncoordinated 6'2" 16yo into a senior lock.

    Wallaby Locks

Junior teams will often lift small loose forwards in lineouts - lifting a 6 foot 14 year old gets a bit hard for the other young fellas!

Townsville today was awful. 35, high humidity. It feels like hell. It'll definitely be a tough trial on both teams Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
