    Reds 2015

That's about four weeks later than the last anticipated return to play date I think. Fingers crossed he comes good and has a good crack at the back end of the season.

    Refereeing decisions

They're all bloody wrong! Haha. When they happen it's like lightning so it's always going to be hard for the ref to blow it up, but in the Ireland one, there's more than one halfback while the ball is still in the lineout - short arm England before we even get to the maul. Then on the maul, the...

    Refereeing decisions

Nah that's not them either. I'll find it and put up a link when it's available. Player gets the ball and pops it down to another player in the line out to set up the maul with a diff attack point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

That's true to a large extent but it's also important to remember that in most years the Wallabies play 15 or so tests which Is almost a season of regular footy and different coaches have different game plans and see different things in various players that they can use. For mine, I'm not sure...

Reds v Waratahs, round 4, Saturday 7 March

Unless the Reds forwards get the team on the front foot with strong carries and quick ruck ball and the backs provide some options with their running and support lines, whoever is at 10 is going to struggle. If those things happened JOC (James O'Connor) would be best placed at 15 or wing. Frisby can distribute...

    Refereeing decisions

all the laws exist for it to be a fair contest, but the speed of the game, the small variations used by different teams and the complexity of those laws make them impractical, if not impossible to apply. It would be nice to see referees apply law to the maul in the same way as they do for the...

    Refereeing decisions

I was talking about the Ireland lineout. I'll try and find it... I agree with Hugh Jarse - that's a flying wedge. Penalty to Ireland. EDIT: might be too early - can't find it on YouTube. About 38 mins Ireland lineout attacking the England line.

Agree completely. Doesn't happen in park footy where players don't have the same conditioning, shouldn't happen at the highest level. Refs really need to get tougher on players slowing down the play. Penalties and Yellow Cards if they don't sort out their shit.

    Refereeing decisions

Anyone see the maul set up off the Ireland lineout just before half time? Ball taken off the top, thrown backward down to an Ireland player in the lineout then players bound and the ball passed back to a ripper before an England player layed a hand on. England defended well but should have been...

Rebels v Brumbies Super Rugby 2015 Rnd 3

Only caught the second half. The AloEmile Sio scrum battle was great. Both teams scrummaged really well. I think the brumbies driving maul from a line out is illegal 90% of the time, but so are other teams and it's something either the SANZAR or World Rugby ref committees need to get on top of...

Highlanders v Reds Super Rugby 2015 Rnd 3

Front row were good, Kotze had lots of involvement and went pretty well. Thomson and Gill standouts. The bit that was most disappointing was at the end of a few attacking phases, JOC (James O'Connor) grubbered that ball into touch. No one is organising the team on the pitch in attack. Perhaps the reason JOC (James O'Connor)...

    Scrum Talk

I'm not too sure on that hit on the bind - you're right that teams still want to get some 'hit' advantage, but I'm not sure if it's creating the instability. I tend to think most scrums are being reset because of the pressure in that static scrum, or because the props are set up right prior to...

The Transition from Schoolboy Rugby to Colts - Is there a better way?

Townsville is a very different market to the cities where club rugby is consistent and school rugby less so, but here are a few of the things we've done (at club and regional level) to keep players engaged through to senior footy. - consistent playing schedule in U17s (about a 20 wk season for...

    Scrum Talk

The scrum naturally favours the team with the ball because they dictate the timing of the feed and their hooker is closest to the ball.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Couldn't think of where to put this. I thought Forcefield's analysis of the Refs defensive ruck work was interesting. Any trends emerging in play or refereeing in Super Rugby or 6N that might effect selections for the RWC? Are refs favouring attacking teams (seems to me the off side line has been very...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Not sure of Timani's stats exactly but it may be worth reconsidering the lock position. I know he's around 194cm. Perhaps that's talk enough now with modern lifting, etc. as long as a player has the required skill level in the scrum, the strength to be a ball carrier and shift a ruck, and be...

Rebels v Brumbies Super Rugby 2015 Rnd 3

Rebs will match the Brums up front. Crucial to their chances will be tightening up the midfield. To'omua, Lilo and Tevita are in great form. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
