    Wallaby Locks

I don't think we're missing a workhorse lock though - we're missing a heavy, aggressive ball carrying lock. Carter and Simmons are both hard working around the paddock at breakdown time and make their tackles. Horwill circa 2011 had that level of aggression, size and ball carrying zeal - it's no...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

You seem determined to hang the shit performance of the Reds around Link's neck. The Reds won the Aussie conference in 2012 despite a pretty shit year, and were second in the Aussie conference (5th overall) in 2013. What more do you want the bloke to do? He's been gone for ages, build a bridge...

    Ideas for NRC 2015

I'd love to see Red Cards only given for the most deliberate or reckless of dangerous play. I like the idea of citing players and dealing with it after without ruining the game. Warburtons red card was a huge disappointment in the RWC in 2011. I can accept safety is a huge factor in matches, but...

    Reds 2015

That's good to hear. I never really heard any follow up to the initial injury. I actually wasn't aware that he was concussed, I thought he compressed his neck or something Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Will Turner be back after the bye? Any news on the severity of his injury against Tahs?

    Reds 2015

That's why I found it strange that Taps wasn't given a crack at 10 with Frisby at 15 or a Prem player in the back 3. Being in the back 3 is far more forgiving that being the playmaker in a team that has no forward penetration.

    Scrum Talk

Free kicks should definitely be an option for referees when they aren't sure what's happened (which is pretty often). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Reds vs Brumbies - Rd 5, 2015

I wouldn't advocate chucking a Prem player at 10 in Super Rugby without some good prep but I reckon there'd have to be a few options at 11, 14 or 15 getting around in the Prems that would be better than having Taps there. Pity Turner couldn't get up, I thought he was good in his game at 15.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

One of many programs using rugby as a tool to help young people overcome problems. http://m.themonitor.com/news/local/rugby-gives-at-risk-youths-a-second-chance/article_7928eac4-122d-5bc3-8e7b-06f816bf4189.html?mode=jqm

    Waratahs 2015

There's nowhere to go once they've finished school though Pfitzy. League and Afl have a 90 year head start on their professional structures. I'm not sure that rugby will ever catch up in Australia. We'll still have good footy players and might continue to make small gains in the community game -...

    Waratahs 2015

The point is I think, there are 16 odd NRL clubs with feeder teams and U20s who are all staffed by professional players and coaches. Rugby doesn't offer anywhere near the same level of opportunity at a professional level. If you want to pursue a career as a professional rugby player of either...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

With all respect RedsHappy, that all sounds a bit hysterical. ARU is about to sign a significantly increased TV rights deal for SuperRugby and have secured a long term commitment to the NRC. I've said before I thought the Reds success in 2010-2012 was somewhat serendipitous - the happy meeting...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

I wonder how much financial disincentive there is to remove the coach? Is Graham contracted to the end of this season only?

    Reds 2015

This would be the team I'd like to see on the paddock by Easter. I'd reckon my 8 year old could almost coach this group to a better win rate than 30% Slipper Fainga'a Holmes Simmons Horwill Thomson Gill Tui Genia Cooper O’Connor Kerevi Tapuai Kurindrani Turner Hanson Paraka Talakai Kotze...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

GAGR's (formerly) own Scott Allen maybe should put up his hand. His game analysis is great. I reckon he could be guaranteed to at least come up with a game plan that suits the team and that could be executed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Reds vs Brumbies - Rd 5, 2015

I think Kotze's been okay at lock, but he needs a higher work rate - more running (seems to be a good carrier) and more at the breakdown. I don't think he's a six. McDuling hasn't really performed either... There's scant hope I fear with the players in the Reds roster to actually get what's...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

I was hoping Qld Country might tap into that thinking as well Lee. The boys, of which a few are at my club, enjoyed the experience tremendously in Adelaide and the results were quite good - only loss to Vic on the back of a couple if intercept tries which could be attributed to not being...

    Coaching Options for Qld Rugby

It suited Link who was moving on with a stated aim to leave the Reds to pursue an international role. Link still coached the team, even though his title changed, and he had an assistant in RG who'd been a Super Rugby head coach. Is it that difficult to believe he couldn't buy into a plan that affected...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

Nice wrap up Hugh Jarse. Would be nice to get a similar summary of the other teams. Certainly is a good endorsement for the current pathways. The NRC really needs to be the vehicle to take these players through to the next level in the absence of any further rep opportunities beyond Super Rugby...

    Reds 2015

But every 10 for the Reds has done the same thing. If the coach isn't happy he needs to hook him and chuck someone in who can do the job. It all starts with moving forward though - if the Reds pigs can't get some front foot ball, it's a lost cause. The problem is that the pigs haven't got strong...
