I am planning on it, but there are so many new boys and departures this off season I am really struggling to put together a clear picture on any age group. Hopefully I'll make it out to a a lot of the trails and get a feel - somehow I think there are going to be a lot of surprises this season...

Very nice - didn't get to see much of him this season - looked like he had a good one.

Not to mention the opportunity to rise to the occasion and fight for their place in the 'A' team - much harder when they bring a boy into your position for 1 year in grade 12. There were quite a few 'new' boys at GT (and BBC too I think) in the 13's and 12's that found themselves in the B's...

That is the age group I was referring too - should be a good comp in the 12's the 11's saw some really good games this year.

I think the private schools should be offering 'educational opportunities' to kids with talents that compliment the schools culture whether that be rugby, swimming, debating, chess, music or whatever. Bringing kids in up until grade 10 is a good thing for all concerned IMO - after that, it is...

This is a very good point and one I had not really considered before - for most GPS schools the impact on bringing in sporting talent has no bearing on the available spots for 'non elite' students and as stated actually brings in $$ for the schools through government contributions per students...

More importantly can they afford not too - time to stop looking at everyone else ARU and step up to the plate and deliver grass roots support and real development pathways that support the GREAT work being done by the schools in fostering junior rugby.

One might also argue the only thing not currently broken in Rugby in Australia is the Private Schools competitions - at least in Qld it has (arguably) never been as competitive and popular as it is now. Why would/should they even entertain the notion of changing it?
