I'll take NC heads up at the odds with a cover beat on the points spread. The IGS scrum won't have mush impact on BBC (nor GT if last weekend was any indication)!! There is not much similarity between NC U13 2018 and U14 2019 - IGS are big but this will be their last year in the top 2 IMO and...

Beat me to it the 14a game was nothing more than a joke match not rugby at all. Two weeks in a row for BBC with no scrums very poor.

Sure - the rules are getting ridiculous - if you aren't contesting scrums at an A level - we really aren't playing Rugby anymore are we! I think each A team should be able to play this card once (injuries happen) after that forfeit - play the game but you have already lost.

As I understand it - there were uncontested scrums in both A and B u14 games.

My two cents - Glen Vaihu at 13 for GT was untouchable early, while GT forwards were competitive in the first half - faded out of the game a bit as GT forwards ran out of puff in the second half. His second try was sensational.

Often overlooked is this is the first year to reach grade 12 following the introduction of prep and year 7 moving to high school. Meaning technically this the half year when only half the cohort started school as we transitioned to a July -June school calendar. The impact felt at the XV level...

Despite mine and others (IMO justified) digs at BBC - This is the issue - a team not playing here or there is no big deal - but the breaking of tradition and setting of precedents can be very big deals and once set in motion may not be easily undone. Rugby continues to be its own worst enemy...

Not sure it is the right solution - haven't given it enough thought - but I like the fact they are trying things at the age group where all schools are not equal. Edit - should it work I could see rolling something like this out to u13 as plausible.

This is an interesting point - we are seeing a definite increase in uncontested scrums in underage club rugby, including Div 1, as well. I kinda think that if your run on side can't contest scrums at an A or Div 1 level than you should forfeit the game (by all means play it without scrums but...

Sure if that is what you took out of that comment (GT never never took their ball and went home though) - and you think it is OK for schools to pick and choose whether to field A teams in underage competitions than fair enough. Enjoy our great competition while it lasts!!

Or does no scholarships mean no more A teams moving forward at all - as I said before no issue smashing sides in the past 4 years or so - but not prepared to be on the other end of the floggings - pretty poor IMO

There are rumblings about 14 as well, not necessarily both those schools

Also you don't win on average 1 premiership every 3 years by running with all the little Jonny's that turn up in grade 5. I am hearing a couple of schools are asking/planning not to field teams in some of underage A competitions. In one school's (at least) case I guess it's not as much fun...

Interesting you cite Chess given BBC has never won the title and ACGS and BGS have 23 of the last 26 between them - maybe BBC are running in the wrong direction, hence no one catching them.

    QLD GPS Rugby 2019

Are you basing that on last year teams in the age groups below or has BBC already got their E's out on the training paddock? BBC certainly fell short of 30 players in the 14's on the weekend with a number of boys playing in both the A and B teams to make up the numbers - injuries which are...

Pretty sure you now have to be turning 16 in the year to play firsts (so traditional Yr 11) the new school year (July - Jun) has half of Yr 10 turning 16 in that year, that is why we are seeing so many Yr 10s in squads. I am very supportive of not allowing U15 to play First XV Rugby.
