    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

Bulls score two quick tries and we're down 17 - 5.

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

We're losing the possession battle at the moment. Need to hold some ball.

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

So, suddenly we chase our kicks, our defence is organised and disciplined and we attack the gain line and, lo & behold, we are a competitive team. Edit: unfortunately our scrum isn't as dominant.

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

I don't know that he has to play 12 to do it though (from a Wallaby perspective). He is very effective just coming into the line when it suits and he is basically playing wing/ fullback in defence anyway. Quick enough to play wing too.

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

At times Cyclo - but at times their short passing has been very good, particularly as the half wore on. It's the sort of play we haven't seen enough from any of the Australian teams this year. Good to watch.

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

Yeah, he just can't change spots once the ball has been fed. Well, at least that's what I heard a ref tell one of the number 8s last week.

    Reds 2016

First and foremost, the coaches should and will do what gives them the best chance to win the game. If this means Greene has to cop being second in the pecking order and has to work even hard to get meaningful minutes, well that's the way it should be anyway. My rational for Greene getting 20...

    Reds 2016

I would like to see the coaches consistently giving Greene 20 minutes to close out games. McIntyre seems to suffer cramps ever week by then, so it makes sense to bring fresh legs on. For some reason though, the coaching staff seem reluctant to use him.

    The Wallabies Thread

It's the same value that our current Wallabies coach saw in picking our best open side flanker at 8. I don't think Beale has played tests fully fit since about 2011. The same year he was finalist for international player of the year, playing fullback.

Australia down 12-0 in the first half and looking tired.

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

NZ wins with about 1 minute left in the second period of extra time. Unbelievable effort from both teams.

In all seriousness, these guys must be exhausted.

NZ & SA well into extra time. Hope they can keep going for another 30 minutes or so. :)

I think experimenting is the wrong word. I can't see anymore than 1-2 debutantes in the Engalnd series, but nor do I think Cheika will shy from picking a rookie if he thinks he is the player for the job. Cheika has shown a preference for experience, but there is still opportunities there for a...

The backline you've named is likely, although I would start Beale, even if it is on the wing. Is that who Cheika will pick - it won't surprise me if there is a smokey or two in there. He's done it before.

    The Wallabies Thread

I understand that perspective Cyclo, but personally I have always seen Beale as a fullback who is capable of playing other positions. He is regularly utilised in the fullback role at the Tahs, regardless of the number on his back. His problem for a while was that he wasn't fit enough. When he is...

When it comes down to it Forcefield, we're all biased. :) I like DHP, but I think Beale's form has been outstanding. His short passing game something that i don't think any of our other backs offer.

But hey - if Cheika goes for Chibba, I won't be losing sleep.

I'm not. I rate him highly. But Ready is better.

    Reds v Highlanders

Looked so good didn't it. The thing is, you can't tell me the players suddenly developed that ability in the last 2 or even 5 weeks. They've obviously had that capacity and credit to the coaches for bringing it out. Now for more of the same, for 80 minutes.
