Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

Nabuli definitely put a foot in touch.

Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

The subs may not have given us the impact we needed, but that wasn't the only problem. Our fitness levels aren't good enough - and this wasn't the first game that that has been an issue in. In fact it's been a common theme this season. I had not expected that to be an issue with Marshes...

Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

I thought Kerevi was very good again and Nabuli is getting more and more involved. In the forwards Browning, Tui, Holmes & Simmons were all good. Stormers clean out was strong and accurate, which limited Gill's success at the breakdown but he was still very strong around the field.

Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

A try at the death by the Stormers blows the score out. Early in the second half I was going to comment that players were starting to show what they are capable of and there were signs we could knock a few teams off on the run home. But we really came apart at the end there and, for the second...

Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

I don't think they had much choice with Gorumaru - Hunt has been cramping up. But otherwise I agree. Browning was having a cracker. Gunn is trying, but looks like he physically can't hold his own.

Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

Hunt & McIntyre both cramping again.

    Force v Waratahs, R9 2016

    Nice try for the rookie.

Larkham was a great 10, but your comment seems to downplay the abilities of Little & Herbert, but of whom were pretty fair players in their own right.

    The Wallabies Thread

When I first wrote my post, I actually had typed 'like the All Blacks did with Nonu & Smith' but I thought that was really underselling Nonu's all round game, so I took that out before I posted it.

There is nothing wrong with playing a line bending 12 and a more rounded 13 (IMO) but that isn't the structure we used last year and I can't see why Cheika will suddenly change tack. Maybe if we'd crashed out of the WC, but given we made the final I'm expecting we stick we a second 5 at 12 &...

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

I agree Reg. There really was some well executed plays by both teams. Good to see the Tahs offloading in traffic. For all the concerns around the disparity between the Australian and New Zealand super rugby sides, most of the Australian's top 23 are in good form and there were some very strong...

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

Despite the outcome watching the Reds play was much easier because they actually put some decent plays together and, at times, looked very competent. Having come off several years of aimlessly squandering possession, giving away cheap penalties and being continually exposed in defence, I am...

    Reds 2016

Looks like people will get there wish and we'll have a new starting no 8. Presumably Browning. Given there are no back up flankers on tour, I wonder if they'll bring someone over, or use the spare lock as cover. I'm trying to think which backrower is fit and who would be next cab off the rank.

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

41 - 22 at full time. Reds struggled to get field position and possession in the first half and missed too many 1 on 1 tackles. Kerevi looked dangerous again, but didn't get enough ball. Our scrum struggled without Simmons.
  15. TSR

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

Greene on for the Reds. Tuttle & Lukhan Tui also on.
  16. TSR

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

Reds struggling to stop Bulls pick and drive. Bulls barge over again from close range. Score back out to 41 - 22.

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

Nice work. Great run and off load by Ant, onto Kerevi who charges over. McIntyre kicks from right in front and it's back to 5 points. 22 - 27 Bulls.

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

And then Slipper turns over a Bulls lineout and Kerevi gets one back. We made hard work of it though - a big overlap killed by 2 passes in a row that the catcher had to wait for.
  19. TSR

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

We're missing Shatz at the front of the line out. Bulls are winning front ball constantly. A good chip and chase sets up the Bulls 3rd try.
  20. TSR

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

Liam Gill on half time. Reds have penalty advantage so he calmly slots the field goal. 17 - 8 Bulls at half time.
