    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, its not really a new format. It's 7s just played over an extended period of play. Instead of two 7 minute halves you have four 12 minute quarters. That's really the only difference. I've seen the test game they ran last year and it's not too bad but tends to loosen up a lot late into the...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I should also add, the recent Halloween 7s event held in St Peterburg, Florida was a test event for the American Rugby 7s group. They are planning to launch a Pro Sevens circuit in the US. The event was primarily set up to show off to potential investor in regards to product and they put on a...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

They never said they wouldn't release players as far as I am aware. There was speculation earlier this year that unless a player was playing in the sanctioned league they wouldn't be considered for the Eagles.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

There has been suggestion that there will be at least one. Possibly out of Vancouver. Thanks to the CRC they essentially have 3 or 4 squads that could enter. However, according to one source the first season will only have the US based franchises involved. Which will be a shame. The Sports...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, considering ProRugby is the sanctioned league of both USA Rugby and World Rugby I doubt they'll be holding back players from the national team.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, you only need to hold your breath til next week when a formal announcement is expected detailing the plans.Looks like it will be launching in April next year with just the US Based teams with at least one Canadian team coming joining in 2017.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, evidently they've already begun operations according to other sources. Based in New York with teams supposedly based in a number of locales across Nth America. According to a poster on Reddit (do take what you will from that) this is backed by notable Rugby people in the US and is 100% a go.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Well, this has been in the works for sometime. USARugby set up RIM (see above post) around this time last year. They kept it quiet until they had everything set up and contracts signed. I get the impression that they are close.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

The group I'm referring to (ProRugby) is the sanctioned league of both USARugby and World Rugby. USARugby's corporate arm (Rugby Int. Marketing) are a major shareholder in the venture so it's not this org. Maybe you're thinking of the NRFL but I've never seen anything about refusing to release...

    Ideas for Australian Rugby Union

I'd go for the all inclusive side of things. Basically if a kid wants to play they can. This would naturally involve both boys and girls competitions.

    Ideas for Australian Rugby Union

Yeah, that was great campaign from back when I was younger. Have Pocock, Folau, Hooper and Moore front it. With Rio under a year away, I'd be looking to really build on 7s inclusion by setting up Schools Sevens events across the country. Set up mini 'circuits' played fortnightly or something...

    The Wallabies Thread

Yeah, that's a concern. Though, fortunately we do have a number of options in terms of back up. Horwitz as played a lot at 10, KB (Kurtley Beale) can in a pinch. We have young Jim Stewart in the squad who would also be worth a look if we had to move either one of those to 10 to take up position at 12.

    The Wallabies Thread

Kellaway or KB (Kurtley Beale). Watching the NRC this season we have Horwitz on the books who I think is worth a look in at 12 so moving KB (Kurtley Beale) to 15 could be worthwhile.

    The Wallabies Thread

We have a few of each emerging in the NRC. Plus, a few that are knocking at the door in regards to 2nd rowers. A good young prospect I hope someone in Aus has or does pick up is Perese from Qld Country. Good toe, good feet and not afraid of the contact when necessary. He's only young but I think...

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

Yeah, great result when considering it doesn't include regional figures. When everything put together could be over 1m viewers which for 3 am in the morning is a phenomenal result. Makes you wonder that if the game had been in primetime how it would have rated.
