    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

Too hard with a heavy ball and low kick.

    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

Wasn't Lyons spending time at lock as well? Good on the NH coaches if they upped Lyons' workrate, though. I'd imagine Lyons would fit into a pack where the tight five do play tight and do a lot of grunt work.

    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

Sure did. Lyons first played for the Tahs in 2000. Bob was coach from '01 - '03. Lyons was another guy who was massive and had a good turn of speed, yet rarely used his bulk effectively. Lyons annoyed me because he had the ability to go missing for most of a game, yet then make a big break...

    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

Lyons was one of the laziest 8s going around, up there with Lauaki. Definitely a frustrating player. Incidentally, wonder what Dwyer would say about Lyons, with all his criticism of Higgers for his work rate being too low?

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

I think Lewis had a lot of preference for League. His dad was a league coach of age teams for Wynnum Manly (some had a mini Wally as mascot). Lewis grew up playing league from a very young kid and he only ever played Union because he went to BSHS. He was a league kid from a league family. He was...

Brumbies v Reds Super Rugby round 14

Not a lot of difference, both are obviously rather young teams. Brumbies are a bit older than you expect, but White seemed to choose well has "seasoned" club players.

Brumbies v Reds Super Rugby round 14

I have ripped this off from earlier in the thread for the ages, thought it might be interesting. Will update with ages as I go, will take a while so be patient as I edit the post. Based on the age people are turning this year. Brumbies are not as young as you would think, thanks largely to...

    Restarts. Beast Style.

Yeah, it's a rule, I think, rather than one of the ad hoc instructions. The odd penalty is blown at lineout time for dropping your own player. Will try to look it up in the rule book later when I have more time. Reckon you could also get penalised for punching your own team mate, too.

Hurricanes vs Rebels Rnd 14 Super Rugby 2012

Vaea's was a swinging arm to the jaw. In no way the same thing.

Hurricanes vs Rebels Rnd 14 Super Rugby 2012

From memory, Matfield was suspended for a similar tackle as Vaea previously. The (huge) difference was they use a swinging arm that collected a player in the head.

    Injury treatment

Reckon some bandages with strapping tape for a couple of weeks would do the trick, or get some slide on knee support type things.

2012R14 The battle of the TAHS (Chee vs Wara)@ Osfontein.

Lopeti Timani was caught last, not Palu. He seems to be a serial offender with getting turned over currently. I don't think he is up to Super standard quite yet. He might yet be a late developer like his brother though. It boggles my mind that Drew Mitchell did not return through club...

    2012 IRB Junior World Championship

It means he might know what he talks about. This threads digress all the time, and this one would have naturally returned to the topic (rather than one of the players in particular) when something relevant happened. Please refrain from those attacks in future. If you don't like a post or...

    2012 IRB Junior World Championship

Swimmers, or at least decent age group ones are an interesting breed. Lots of lean muscle mass, gym from a very early age, and they are generally very very aerobically fit, even the sprinters. They are very very strong, despite their lean frames. If you change their exercise regime, diet and...

    Tapuai to Melbourne?

No, they can't. Apart from the obvious incorrect apples to oranges comparison, I think that there should be no more of this obvious fishing/baiting/trolling, please.

Hurricanes vs Rebels Rnd 14 Super Rugby 2012

Well, your strongest pack available at any rate, with Lipman and Saffy out. Davidson isn't a 7, really. Thought he did well at 6 vs the Saders, though.

    Rebels 2013

Lipman may be worth holding onto another year, but it will depend on what young Aus opensides are available to the Rebels. Alcock, Jenkins, McCutcheon are probably all worth consideration, if any are available. If not, get another year out of Lipman and Saffy, who is still going OK, and try...

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

If I had some more trades, or the desire to use my wildcard, I'd probably look at Lambie for the week, along with Harris, and would definitely pick up Hougaard. Dumping Pocock for Coetzee would also be really tempting. I reckon I'd keep Shipperley this week, he has a great chance to score big...

Ages. Was captain when Delve was out.

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

I am very close to using my wildcard...but am holding back a few weeks. I want to change around my hookers, locks, inside backs and outside backs, but can wait still for a few weeks. Alexander, Connie (c), res: Taumololololololo Strauss, res: Hanson Horwill, Pyle, res: Etzebeth Higgers...
