    Bledisloe # 3 - Saturday 31st October, ANZ Stadium

Your thoughts were 100% on point. It may change in time, but right now I’m happy to give the coaching team as much rope as they want with room to spare. Personally I’m confused with the Banks persistence where he demonstrably has failed “kick-return 101”; don’t understand the absence of...

    Reds 2021

Like LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) Itoje is considered a lock/6. To hold position he has to be very good. And he is very, very good. If Setu is anything close we are on a winner. And there is the issue.

He-he. In Rennie we trust, let’s see what he does this time.

At that height Setu Uru is similar to LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (1cm shorter?) who is frequently pushed to 6 in the expectation that he does not have enough height for the row. Would we want two rowers in this bracket? OTOH I see that Setu is taller than Brad Thorn who is possibly one of the best “engine room”...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Or the Springbok squad would have been safer here in Aus. Or NZ for that matter. I doubt infected players would have avoided detection in quarantine. On the whole the soft spots in that process have been well covered now. how many Boks from Lions/Cheetahs? Nil from Cheetahs I think.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

it is not so very surprising that they value the tests, though it is good to see it confirmed, even if by inference. Bigger and more important question how 9 values the Pro level/Super/TT/Domestic games. This question seems to boil down what sort of free access is available. I go with the...

    I think it’s great.

    Reds 2021

2 years is hardly a lengthy development programme for a 10 reaching pro-rugby. Thorn more than any other HC in Australia has demonstrated an intent, desire and implementation of getting broader squad exposure with game time. IMO it is a golden opportunity for a next gen 10. I fail to see any...

    Waratahs 2021

It used to be props that had to be lined up early, right now it’s second rowers. Financial woes here are concerning and repercussions are understandable - but surely everyone would be more comfortable right now if tight 5 recruitment was further advanced?

    Wallabies 2020

Oh, they say the words RN. It’s just that they are focussed so much on indignant condescension that they can’t hear themselves.

Thanks Rob. What is he 24/25? How is the academy going with possible future 10s? Seems to me it needs bolstering with potentials ring fenced from Piccone.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Agree. Free coverage on Kayo might be fine for a minority. But getting mainstream exposure on 9 is a thousand fold more beneficial. I’m happy to see the end of albatross that has been Foxtel. You only stick if there is overwhelmingly commercial reasons to do so. The only relationship matters...

There is also pregame, half time and post game. We don’t need the “colour” - replace that with actual expertise/knowledge.

Maybe on Shambeckler. Is Mason what we need though? I genuinely believe we need a true play-making 10 not a distributor. We went through a long period of creating distributors - Jake, Stewart. It’s been a while since I saw Mack but a Reds pedigree from that period isn’t the first place I’d be...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I’d like people who can translate some of the basics into things an NRL or AFL fan can grasp. If they can also elucidate on laws/variations that dedicated fans can miss, great (think the recent ref discussion on crawling as clarified by Pfitzy). Finally, if this can involve strategy...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Thinking outside of the TRC (formerly RC), what is the go with the Argentinians? I understand they are without their Euro players? Do they have a comp back in America? Might they be interested in Aus? (or NZ). Setting up here for 2021 might not be a bad option. Apologies in advance as this...

Bledisloe 2 at Eden Park 18/10/20

Tate is Thorn trained and has no problem if he needs to enter a ruck. He also is a solid defender.

Bledisloe 2 at Eden Park 18/10/20

Possibly. But he’s had two. There are other prospects. Maybe it’s time someone tells him “Shit. Or get off the pot.”

Personally Petaia 13 Jock 15. No reason to fuck with it. Let Petaia settle totally on the slot and leave a fantastic FB on board. Also Paisami May threaten Stewart at 12, but only with plenty of development. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. What we need is a next gen 10.
