If 15 needs be a second playmaker then it is Stewart. I love Jock at 15, he is excellent at organising the backline but he is not a playmaker.

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

Agree, it is utterly ridiculous. I’d like to think we’ve all been smart enough to grow in attitudes and beliefs since 20. God knows I’m glad I have.

    12 Paisami 13 Petaia 15 Jock I’d think about Hegarty at 14.

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

Yep. It IS the days of COVID and we do need to be flexible, but this lot don’t sit right with me either. FWIW I’m not so sure that England will simply change the Kiwi welcome tune to “oh now you want to play at Twickers, Sure thing.”

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

They were creative and provided a (so far) unique package that did push things along. If this has the impact of driving up Ch 7 niche sports then so be it. It is hard to think of a “niche sport” with as much international exposure as rugby. The potential is surely there - as long as we keep our...

A GT that size is a stump puller, though. I had no idea you could find them on Fraser. Not exactly a table fish.

New Zealand vs Argentina, Nov 28, 2020

Happy to be corrected. I had Wales (Home) 13 Eng (away) 24 for 11 point win. +.40 to England

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Seems odd, Derpus. With respect, Waratah home crowds haven’t been huge for years. Hopefully things settle for sufficient funds to build the squad.

New Zealand vs Argentina, Nov 28, 2020

Too soon. England beat Wales for +0.40 to 89.13. The gap widened. NZRU will need to lose their aversion to playing England and hope that the Springboks do not continue with their plan of retiring while in front.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

+3 Actually, this was pretty much always the case (same for Rebels - a National comp needs a presence in Melbourne and in the west). We just have to cut our coat with the available cloth. Got to feel for the Waratahs all the same. Don’t really understand how financially they sit so...

New Zealand vs Argentina, Nov 28, 2020

I can’t recall ABs playing a possession game before. The counter seemed to be ditched as the coaches worked the poor pigs in Simpson Desert conditions. Set piece by ABs looked recalcitrant, prefer to be anywhere else, but we’re here so muscle up and get on with the job. They are not “looking...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

    a) Yes it is completely reasonable for WA Force to expect equatable share of income, subject to the same arrangements as everyone else. b) The reason that this would start in 2022 would be that the sport needs to settle and re-establish and Force/Mindaroo have been presenting themselves with...

    Reds 2021

Yeah nah. Yeah we are left with the rusted who are watching the games. Nah, being a fan watching, going to a few games, and being an independent are two different things. Understanding what Stewart does for the team comes from thinking he was the next 10, him showing promise there, it not...

    Reds 2021

Yep. The non-Reds WB fans see Paisami as a slam dunk to Red 12 but they clearly have not seen what we have seen with Stewart. Not to mention that Thorn is unlikely to simply go “Oh yeah, Rennie put him there - done.” Huge kudos to Paisami, but he has work to do back home in Brisbane. Which is...

    Reds 2021

There is a morphing of the role in the modern 10. Required to defend the channel and to do this with vigour. Ready to work in traffic, flat, in the thick of things and take contact (preferably with an offload). Stewart could do this for sure. The way the Reds play Stewart has often been first...

    Reds 2021

One thing we have seen from Thorn is an ability to bring through young players. As the rugby level increases he has also shown fabulous ability to bring through second rowers and loose forwards. Either Thorn and/or Lillycrap have been sublime in urgently plugging g gaps in the front row and...

    Reds 2021

I mostly agree with this. Stewart covers more from the bench than anyone else and I don’t think is better than Jock at 15. The only thing is, no matter how good he has gotten, JOC (James O'Connor) is hardly an archetypal 10. Backlines work much better with a (defending) distributor outside him. On that narrow...

He fights for his spot. More likely Paisami fights to displace him. Thorn will make his own mind.
