England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

No other major rugby country faces any where near the competition for athletic 1.95m+ guys though. How many potential locks are playing in the NBL or all levels of Aussie rules.

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

Describing the different responsibilities that Hooper, Pocock and McMahon (or LFG) will have under Grey's system in defense and Larkhams attacking pods as playing 3 opensides is completely meaningless though right? They aren't in the side to do the same thing

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

At least against Ireland it looked as though 4/5/8 (Pocock) were in the closer pod and the front row were in the other. Bring Timani in and he's really replacing Pocock in the attacking structure, while Pocock would replace Mumm out wide. Whatever your view about Pocock v Timani v Fardy in...

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

Other backrow options - obviously doesn't include any ruck or turnover forced stats which might make all the difference Scott Fardy minutes 120 4 carries 9m made 19 tackles 3 miss 6 lineout catch David Pocock minutes 305 30 carries 43m made 54 tackles 6 miss 4 turnovers conceded 0 lineout...

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

Stats don't tell the whole story, but they do tell some of it. For what it's worth Dean Mumm minutes 195 11 carries 43m made 22 tackles 1 miss 1 turnover conceded 1 yellow card 9 lineout catches 1 lineout steal Lopeti Timani minutes 196 29 carries 49m made 21 tackles 1 miss 2 turnovers...

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

Fardy has ended up at lock in at least 3 games in gold (for whatever reason) - against Arg, Eng and NZ, IIRC. I don't think he has been part of a single scrum at lock which has won the ball out of at least a half dozen attempts - they have been spectacularly bad.

When was the last time they appointed a coach that actually knew what he was doing?

    November Internationals not involving Australia

Seems to be a issue with the regulations. Top end carries 12+ weeks for kicking or kneeing but only 9+ for stamping. No idea why they should be different. And the weeks off for mitigation has always been ridiculous

Arnold is the big change of late this year. Wonder if, like his lineout, his scrummaging isn't quite up to standard yet.

England v Australia, Saturday 3 December

"The Disciplinary Committee then concluded that, although Mr Mumm had committed an act of foul play (as he had accepted), the particular circumstances of the incident meant that Mr Mumm's actions would not have warranted a red card,” today’s statement read." Maybe the Scottish players getting...

Ireland v Australia, Saturday 26 November

His body shape initially was fine - it was a tackle not a ruck. Once Simmons and Mumm bound on him, there's an argument that he should have got his head up but it was probably a bit hard given what Simmons was doing to it. Having said that - when the croc roll is the only way to displace a...
