A question: how many of our tries in the June Tests can be credited directly to Cooper, and how many to Giteau? But the bigger issue is surely this: if by the Ireland Test, we were still getting 'Cooper is confusing us' problems in the Oz back line, and that's after about 4 weeks and 3 prior...

Gagger, I tend to agree - at the end of the day, the key thing is what is the reward-to-risk ratio for a particular player against a particular opposition for a particular game plan? Cooper and Beale have risks all right, but what is the reward they can generate? Other players' risk likelihood...

Langthorne, you surely deserved a credit as more than a notable exception...you have been a leading beacon! Let's hope for Aus rugby's sake we're both wrong, Aus wins the Tris and/or BC, and we can prepare eloquent apologies. Or just move over to cricket?

    Wallabies Tri Nations

matty_k. Yes. The ABs game plan last night had some notable similarities to that used by the Reds v Bulls. And some similar impacts: Bulls forwards tired badly as Reds held so much possession, Bulls defence started to crack in second half, lots of dynamic wide play by Reds wasn't matched by...

+1. And I'll tell you what: his likely reward-to-risk ratio is and will be a lot better than that applying to Brown and Mumm, for example. Those are two lucky lads to be staying alive in the Wallabies, their performances and 'I want my Wallaby jersey and boy am I going to show it' factors have...

Sorry, partly my fault, just a small digression though for a 'local passion' break.

Indeed! And, frankly, yr record vs Reds is so damned good, you have every right (until 2011, that is).

Naughty. We have been instructed over on the Reds thread to be more subdued and take Valium until 2011. So, you have no right to stir us up.

Daz, on this particular post at least, you missed my point, or I expressed it badly. My point above was that the ARU and others should have done something long ago to deal with the the core issues we have in Oz elite forwards (vs the top teams) as the problem has, IMO, been quite glaring for...

    Wallabies Tri Nations

Agreed. But the Shaw moment of unforgivable poor control at a crucial point in that game, arguably opened the way for those (2, I think) fast Canes tries with 14 Reds on the park. The Palu try was just in the flow of the game. Not arguing with you here, Daz, just yr good observation re Higgers...

Good point daz. Nothing though could be worse than Shaw. He may just have cost us a spot in the Finals, with that mad act vs Canes, if you recall.

    Reds 2011

+1! It's also a stupid defence. Remarkable the introversion in Oz rugby today - 'we ex-players must unite, Gits is a good bloke, and if his best days were 3 years ago, he still deserves a slot in the team as one of the/us greats'. What rubbish. And then my personal non-favourite from JP and...

rsea - agree - the 'experiment' with Higginbotham is a real positive. I'm excited to see how he goes, when he does. You can be sure of a huge effort and to have a forward with that pace (he's an ex-back of course) could be decisive in some plays.

    Reds 2011

When I asked for a bit of 'mature adult restraint' yesterday in another place altogether - IMO in a far more legitimate context than fan madness ever is - you essentially told me in a one-liner I was writing PR dribble and to stop.
