Wallabies v Ireland, Saturday 16th June, 8.00pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

I’d like to see the same side retained. We beat the number 2 team in the World and, across the board, everyone contributed. I’d like to see them reward that and build some continuity. Whilst the 6/2 split left us a bit exposed it did, on the flip side, pay a dividend based on the late cameos...

    Rugby 7s general chat

How is Pama Fou travelling. Any problems post-injury. Was a wonderful 7s player. It’s a real pity he couldn’t transfer to 15s but would love to see him back in the 7s squad.

We did some really good things in the game - and Koriobete was excellent, but I am going to be a little bit critical of him on that one for not straightening late and popping to DHP (I think) to score untouched.

Anyone that Coleman hit, for starters.

Nah - the Irish buckled on their LH side first, then the natural wheel of the scrum took over. If you watch after the scrum everyone immediately rushed to Tupou to pat him on he head. I reckon Latu probably showed his value there too. Now, wherever that is just because Tupou is so good he...

I agree it was a great win and I agree with your point that even after winning, if we think we can improve, we should. But we will get Improvement from building combinations too, so I’d be happy to carry the same team. I can see an arguement for Tui over Timu, but I personally would rather they...

As good as Pocock was, I reckon he was also unlucky. Not meaning to have a crack at the ref - it is tough in real time - but I reckon both times he penalised Australia when Pocock was on the ball he was wrong (or at least, in the first case, inconsistent). And gee he gets taken out/held out...

Why would you tweak the line up? The only guy who was probably off the mark was Paenga-Amosa, and that was only his throwing. Everywhere else he was good. Neither Latu nor Fainga’a are guaranteed improvements in that regard. Everyone else was good. Maybe Arnold for Simmons, but even then I...

I thought I remembered Hooper winning one later in the game too.

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

The first one Ireland anticipated well that Australia might go front - presumably to try and give Paenga-Amosa an easy introduction first throw. The two other misses I remember were both clear overthrows where it seems like Paenga-Amosa completely missed the call or the timing or both...

For mine, Robertson went backwards after they moved him form THP. But he has really come in this year - both scrum time and around the field.

It is. And I think Foley can be very good with these guys too. The best parts of his game is he flattens the attack, is direct and is quick to capitalise if the defence overreads it and drifts off him too early. Please God I hope Grey has ditched the deck chair shuffle defence system.

The same thought occurred to me. If Kerevi is found wanting again he will potentially have his cards marked and be up against it to get another shot. The upside is he has his future in his own hands and you can’t ask for more than that, but he needs to grasp the chance with both hands.

He also has more super rugby caps and is older and, hopefully, more mature. And he will come into the field the same time as Tupou is a rookie too. Yes - Cheika should’ve done things differently last year, but he didn’t and this is where we are. I wouldn’t have minded if he rolled the dice...

Yeah - fair call. Although to be honest Cheika was between a rock and a hard place with hooker. Like some mug poster said yesterday - you’d be very brave to go in with two rookie hookers. Overall though I feel our tight 5 stocks are the best they’ve been in possibly 15 years.

Maybe. But I’m struggling to think of a better tight 5 and bench of tight forwards we’ve had for a long time. That’s enough to make me pretty excited for the game.

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I have my concerns about Kerevi’s defence - but I wasn’t it after the Sydney Test that Cheika came out and conceded that the teams defensive strategy was a mess. If I recall correctly we appeared to have about 10 different plans during the match - all of which invoked our outside channel...

No worries FP. I know I didn’t specify in my post, but I wasn’t responding to you or Reg. And my slight at Slim was probably misplaced as I know he is being tongue in cheek. I thought it was a good article from Cheika. Whatever else Cheika may or may not be he strikes me as a person who...
