    Australian Rugby / RA

Was the $48m an increase from TV rights, or the total increase from revenue compared to 2015. I could see the total revenue increasing by something like that, if you compare with the low of last year. The ARU have a fairly massive revenue drop each world cup year from the big reduction in...

    Round 6: Reds v. Hurricanes, April 1st

Rob Simmons won't want to watch the replay of that try too often

    Round 6: Reds v. Hurricanes, April 1st

Reds finally out of luck. Tough from here....

Couple that may apply As he never actually kicked it - I think re-taking is fair enough - there was no infringment

"Yeah, it's a good point" Never seen a ref be argued around before!

Ah Jake...... Pro player has to make that tackle.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'll clarify. I've signed the petition. Everyone who agrees with it should sign the petition. We need to do more. This is just a starting point

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Petitions are all well and good (edit and a great starting point), but sell out your home ground full of fans letting the ARU know what they think of any proposal to cut teams is the only way anyone in power is going to take any notice. It's really the only way to show the team is worth saving too.

    Refereeing decisions

Need a tap-kick and two players binding on either side of the ball carrier to create a flying wedge according to the laws. Don't think there's any law against pre-binding. As long as the ball carrier is available to be tackled and then everyone follows the laws around releasing players at...

    Reds 2017

What's the record for premier grade or Shute Shield play-makers making the step up to Super rugby like? I know we had that horror season around 2004 when just about everybody pulled on a jersey at 10, and they all kept getting injured, but across Australia is there much of a precedent around...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

RFU includes a big bump from the World Cup but they still do pretty well. The SANZAAR deal is now split pretty equally (I believe!). Under the last deal (which is covered by these finances in the Reddit post) they allegedly undersold the Super/TRC rights and oversold the Currie Cup so they...

    Round 6: Reds v. Hurricanes, April 1st

You know what the interesting thing is? The Sharks (+10), Force (+10), Lions (+3) all had more handling errors than the Reds in the game between them (Vodacom Rugby stats) Crusaders were very close (-1). Jags were better (-5). Hopefully Stiles has the boys practicing spilling the ball all week.

    Reds 2017

As always there's a fair bit of context missing when we compare with NZ. Kaylen Ponga has been signed for $3m aged 18. He's obviously an exception, but if we want to compete with league for a lot of these guys who have their choice of sport, we have to pay. And our sport doesn't generate...

    Reds 2017

Early season games in Queensland have always been error filled, and usually poor games.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's not that simple though is it? And I should start by saying I don't support losing any teams. We don't know what the status quo means. The option might be to keep 5 teams, but a dramatic reduction in the euro money. Another option offered by broadcasters might be a full Trans-tasman...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's interesting that Geoff Stooke can come out and say this @abcperth: Fmr Rugby WA chairman and current ARU board member Geoff Stooke tells Peter Bell that the @westernforce is NOT set to be axed #perthnews And an unsourced article can come out at the same time and everybody seems to be...

    The Wallabies Thread

There must be a real risk that Foley needs a significant time out of the game to recover from the concussion symptoms www.rugby.com.au/news/2017/03/28/00/09/bernard-foley-concussion-round-six So where does that leave us at 10? Can you risk QC (Quade Cooper) with his predilection for dangerous tackles or...

    Reds 2017

AS othrs have said, I reckon it's easily the defensive line speed, and ability for (most!) players to actually undertake an effective tackle is the biggest change. Have a look at that video (4:15) and look how much time the 10 has to run sideways before passing to the hard runner He'd be...

Can anyone see Geoff Stooke letting the Force be scrapped?
