    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

Agree, and not discussed enough. And Link/Reds must prove they can get into the S15 2011 Finals.

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

That's not at all my point Cyclo. Above, I was talking about the positive, transformative power that IMO coaches can potentially impart way above and beyond the core players' talents chosen for a team. And thus just focussing on 'player selection and player attributes' is, IMO, relieving...

    Wallabies v All Blacks Melbourne

I think that kind passage above is directed at me, so I should issue a short response: I don't and won't resile from debating the historical and present role of the ARU in oversighting what objectively can be seen to be one of the least successful, and and most dispiriting, periods in the...

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

Me too Scarf. I have only been posting here for about 7 weeks, and what I would term this 'new negative fatalism' re Wallaby, or potential Wallaby, player quality has grown exponentially in that time. It comes from a number of sources, but an identifiable one of course is the RD diehard...

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

J'ON was on record immediately post the Ireland game that he/ARU were targeting Tris silverware this year for sure, and, as I recall it (without my notes right now), mentioned another target this year of a 70+% w-l ratio for the Wallabies. That was all of about a month ago.

DPK, I always respect your views. Why was 'the gameplan terrible'? What needs to be done about that deficiency? Who is responsible and accountable for that deficiency? Why were these Wallabies 'insane'?

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

Gnostic, much general agreement from me as to direction required for a proper change process. Tonight was a manifest debacle of inadequate team preparation and skills development and discipline in depth. The Wallaby 'team mind' was, v sadly, again a scrambled egg. Let me advance some thoughts...

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

+1. IMO, Hynes is the only all-round attacking FB we have at present, and T should at the very minimum be in this squad.

    Wallabies v All Blacks Melbourne

Good to see your passion back Gnostic, thanks. Umm, yes, re your concerns above. That good latter point you make about the Boks in Brisbane is accurate and telling. But the Fanboys and Cheerleaders post Brisbane just did not want to hear of it (as usual), they were just back on the 'back the...

Comparing the financial value of S14/NRL/AFL clubs

Thanks Wamberal for a fine and thought-stimulating post. I really enjoyed reading it.

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

(Btw, I think RD made an attempt at answering 'the bench question' last week, didn't he?) Tonight, I would favour a variant of DPK's 'stat attack' suggestion, namely: you Austin list a couple of those carefully checked % performance stats you have revealed recently re Wallaby handling errors...

Comparing the financial value of S14/NRL/AFL clubs

[* Sorry this is a long post, it sort of has to be. Short post adherents, please scroll down....now!] Has anyone yet read this depressing - but almost all hard-facts-based - article? Even JO'N is downcast in it. Along with TOCC's figures it captures the essential economic, fan-base and...

    LOCKED: Time to Sack Deans?

Funnily enough I only have a year to live, so this (probably) won't be needed. Much of this GG-RD exchange is post-media-adviser Robbie-speak where he sounds (to me at least) more like a politician choosing nearly every word, than the person he is. The whole thing is generally so anodyne, it's...

Comparing the financial value of S14/NRL/AFL clubs

TOCC, painful as the truth may be, you do us a big favour by posting this. More to say tomorrow. Meanwhile, go buy this weekend's Australian Financial Review, see the magazine inside, see "Rugby's Journey to Hell". Anyone who thinks this subject is funny, lives in a world of delusion.

Might be fine for AFL - big oval - I went to a cricket game there and hated it. Glad you like it. Many sports fans I know in MEL are v iffy about it. I am delighted by the Rebels arrival, that's a totally different matter than having ABs games there. Give MEL Ireland or France or maybe an...

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Actually, there is a soft pink version of our gear (pink deriving from red), but the players don't like to talk about it openly.

Etihad is one of those God-forsaken 'multi' stadia just designed to kill rugby joy...perhaps I can _just_ forgive the ARU for having this game in MEL in a pre-Rebels year, but never otherwise. What has MEL ever done for rugby but sneer and neglect it, by and large. AB-Walls games should be in...

Mate, come on! These essay writers for the GAGR blog do a fantastic, top class job in their spare time. Check out Spiro's regular typos in The Roar, and he's paid!
