Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Saw that article too. I assumed it was an editing error and the numbers are actually total tackles for the season.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Butler is doing a great job, topping the tackle count over Hooper. Certainly not your tradition seven and I'd say he is most similar to McMahon. Kind of a 6/7 hybrid.

    Wallaby Locks

I do agree we need a hard-nosed lock to compliment either Carter or Simmons BUT how is Skelton even considered a lock, His scrummaging is poor and he can't even jump in the line-out. Having a starting lock that can't jump completely baffles me. He is big and strong but should be an impact...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Why is Simmons so important? For his Line-out skills? We have plenty of quality jumpers in Fardy, Carter, Higgers, Horwill, Jones etc. Fardy is now calling the line-out for the Brumbies and I think Higgers calls for the Rebels too. Our current starting locks have probably been the players...

    Highlanders v Waratahs - R5, 2015

A reputation is not built on one game. Beale won't be able to change that until he does better in defence. If he had made consistent improvements in defence then he wouldn't get as much unjustified criticism. Hiding him at fullback is probably the most effective strategy for the Tahs but it is...

Waratahs v Brumbies, round 6, Sunday 22 March

Lilo's boot will need to be better for this one I predict.

Can't bloody wait! Going to be a great match up.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I agree. But I think for a player of JOC (James O'Connor)'s standard, where he has demonstrated a very high quality and consistent form at Test level (on the wing), Unlike players trying to break into the squad, a few good games can get him back in contention quickly. So I wouldn't write him off this soon. If...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

We better keep it going until the Brumbies V Tahs and they can finally go head to head.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

I think we need to send an SOS to George Smith so we can end this thread.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

I agree with what your saying. We shouldn't judge on one game alone. Otherwise KB (Kurtley Beale) would be the world's best fullback. The great thing about Hooper and Pocock is they consistently play at a high level. Pocock has shown he can go one step further and have a once-in-a-lifetime performance that...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Pocock much like Smith and McCaw actually adjust's his game to the ref. You are right in implying that the ref was lenient that day, and SA losing their open-side didn't help, but Pocock took FULL advantage of the situation and he deserves full credit for doing so. Pocock was a HUGE...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

One player can make a difference. Refer to Pocock V South Africa RWC quarter final. Isn't that the great thing about sport, that one man's efforts at times can make a huge difference. Although I do agree with the rest. We should not rely on one player to make a difference. If the pack are...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

peppered him all night? Bit of an overstatement. Both the Brumbies and Crusaders had poor kicking games in the finals, sure they kicked often but they kicked poorly and didn't put enough pressure on the kick returners (eg KB (Kurtley Beale)), which was a contributor to their loss. KB (Kurtley Beale) can catch a ball but if...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

That's because he play's 12 now. He does drop back to fullback on occasion but he is very rarely put under pressure. That will change if starts at 15 for the wallabies, SA and NZ would have a field day.

Do think Larkham as attack coach would influence any selections? I certainly think Larkham would fight to have To'omua and Lilo in the team. Not sure what his opinion on Beale, Foley, or Cooper is but he certainly does have a Brumbies bias. (and rightly so ;) )

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I'm in two-minds about this. I can see the counter attacking benefit from Beale and the defence from Horne, BUT It is a complicated structure that relies heavily on two players. What if Horne get's injured, then some-one is going to have to fill in a specialised defensive role. Same with Beale...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I really dislike accommodating a players defensive weakness at the expense of other players. It makes Beale and Horne a package rather then individuals. I would have thought switching Horne to 13 and bringing in Betham would have been the best option. Betham is such a solid super xv...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Interesting. I doubt Cheika's selections at times. Who's playing at 13 then?

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I agree, if Horne and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) weren't both at the Tahs I would certainly think Horne would be playing 13 regularly. I think their is potential in players like Inman or even Godwin to excel at 13.
