Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Lilo as a plan B is a pretty good plan B. There is also the option of moving To'omua to 10 and bringing in Gits to 12. That's also a pretty damn good plan B.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I think the main reason he was never put at 12 was for his defence. His time at 12 in the past was always spent being run over by players like Pat McCabe. Although recently I see him tackling a full-steam Nonu head on (right before he got penalised) so the potential is certainly there. I would...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Yeah I have to admit winning the MOTM was a surprise to me too. I agree with your logic. But there is a chance Lilo is building towards his 2012 form, he hasn't done anything remarkable yet but he has gotten better each game. If he does replicate that 2012 form in the next couple of games then...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I could see him as a cover for 10 but theirs no way I'd put him ahead of To'omua, Cooper, Foley to start. If Cooper and Foley are both injured then I'd still move To'omua to 10 with Gits 12. So it would take Cooper, Foley and To'omua to all be injured before he'd get a look in. And in that...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I would have agreed with you at the start of the year given the lack of game time at 10. However Lilo has played the last few games at 10 for the Brumbies and won MOTM ahead of incumbent Foley. His form is building in the position. This combined with his highly successful 2012 stint at 10 still...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

For starting 12's: 1. To'omua 2. Lilo 3. Giteau 4. Godwin 5. Inman 6. Beale Like Braveheart already mentioned, the list for back-up 12 is going to be completely different. Beale would certainly be favoured for a bench position even though I'd put him way down the list as a starter...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

It's not easy to pinpoint but its possible. Lilo's last match - missed a kick from right in front, followed by a 2-3mins of errors - thumbled ball, followed by an up-and-under which literally went straight up. Although he did manage to recover after that is was clear the missed kick affected...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

We certainly don't have many players that 100% fit the bill. Maybe AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Pocock, Hooper, Moore, Fardy meet the criteria. However we certainly have players who are MORE LIKELY to perform better under pressure given their low error rates, calm attitudes on the field, experience and skill-set...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I really like this quote from George Gregan regarding players we need for RWC (especially once you get to the quarter-finals). "It is not necessarily who is best on paper, but who can deliver under extreme pressure and make good decisions, come away with the critical points, but also play those...

    Did Lilo win MOTM?

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

How bloody good was that hit Hooper did on Vaea. Vaea is no slouch and it was a clear 1 v 1 and Hooper hit low and hard and managed to drive him back 5 metres or so. I still prefer Pocock but I nearly creamed my pants when I saw that.

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

Well was he a good captain? I don't think he was. He had a "lead by example" type of captaincy which was almost solely based on performance and ignores the other qualities of a great captain such as ref management, game management, player management. Yes he did the job. But theres doing...

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

It was a decision made out of desperation rather then choice and it doesn't mean it was the right decision.

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

Yeah Hooper does get unfairly targeted at times. Although having said that he certainly does show some immature characteristics on the field - the way he addresses refs and the way he speaks to opponents on the field. Not big things but lots of little incidents. These little incidents like the...

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

I would put Coleman in the same level of defence as Foley. Although Coleman would be easier to target in the 12 channel.

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

I feel Vaea was still a bit fresh early in the session. He was successful off the bench but struggled when he started. His fitness should be better by now so I expect more from him this game. I think the key for the Brumbies will be matching the physicality of Skelton, Pots, Palu, TPN, Kepu -...

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

I hope your wrong but that's certainly likely and a pretty decent strategy. I'd expect the same from the Brumbies targeting Beale and Foley in the line who'd probably be worse defenders then Coleman. So I guess I wouldn't call it an advantage for the Tahs as you have the same weakness in that area.

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

I disagree. He's at 12 a lot on attack, mainly moves away on defence. Anyways Foley, Beale, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), aren't exactly the Nonu/SBW type ball runners, Coleman will be fine, He puts his body on the line and makes tackles - he'll get run over by some forwards and the hard-running backs but he'll at least...

Brumbies v Waratahs, round 12, Friday 1 May

Coleman at 12 shouldn't be a problem he's experienced in that position. So defensive positioning should be okay, only thing is he is a lightweight - but thats okay cos his opposite number is Beale.

Can't we just fly in the third choice halfback if one gets injured?
