True enough FP, but have a look at the outside backs from other Aus teams. Folau - 11 and 2 for success rate about 85% (and much maligned for his defense); Clark - 2 and 2 for 50% (a very small sample); Naivalu - 21 and 5 for about 80%; Daugunu - 10 and nil for 100%; Koroibete - 18 and 5 for...

I think there is hidden in the gems in Reg's stats, some evidence of the problems currently besetting the Brumbies, and their prospective Wallaby contenders. The tackle effectiveness or success rate of the Brumbies outside backs is woeful. Tom Banks - 14 tackles and 7 missed for a success...

Brumbies vs Crusaders 6th April - Christchurch Stadium

In form side at home against an out of form opponent. Crusaders by at least 60.

Pretty much as I saw the weekend too, and no doubt the majority of posters on this site. I am becoming more hopeful that the Rebels will continue to develop and win their games so that there can be a new broom put through the perpetually underperforming Wallabies.

Well, up there with Arnold imo. I could easily accept a back 5 of Rodda, Philip, Jones, Pocock, Naisarani, with a bench of Arnold/Coleman, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto). Hooper starts if Pocock isn't fit, but otherwise not in the 23. Pocock and Hooper to be named Captains.

    Round 7: Reds v Rebels - Saturday 30 March @ Suncorp

Would be great working in tandem with Rory Arnold. It would be a brave or foolish side that wanted to set a maul against them.

Wamb, it mystifies and galls me that coaches fail to select players in their best spots. Gibson is doing it with Hunt, Beale and Folau, but most disappointingly Cheika has been doing it for 4 - 5 years with Folau, DHP, Beale, and Pocock.

R7: Waratahs vs Sunwolves - Friday 29 March @ Newcastle

Spot on R3. However, I would be very surprised if there are no better No 10s running around in SS who could fill in when Foley isn't playing. I wonder if Sinclair is still with Northern Suburbs? I do realise that many Tahs' fans will have little to do with club players who haven't recently...

In the midst of that disappointing performance by the Tahs v the Sunwolves, I again came to the conclusion Gordon offers a lot more threat to the opposition than Phipps does. His sniping runs around the ruck area constantly pose a threat and often gets the forwards moving forward. Gordon would...

    Round 7: Reds v Rebels - Saturday 30 March @ Suncorp

Very hard to pick this result. Reds will have the upper hand in the front row and scrum. But will that be enough to keep the Rebels at bay? If Kerevi moves to 13, then there will be more reason to favour the Rebels. Moving K out of 12 is now a bit like moving Pocock out of 7. I have always...

R7: Waratahs vs Sunwolves - Friday 29 March @ Newcastle

KOB, that's true to an extent. But it was equally, or more so, true of the Crusaders last week. If tonight's Crusaders team had player last week the result would have been significantly different. BTW, without Hooper, the Tahs have very little going for them this year. Hooper played a...

Just maybe, this game provides the answer?

My concern Wamb is that in a number of SS games I've seen him play, he has been essentially the same - non-impactful tending towards invisible.

That is a sensible assumption Bandar - just hope it works out in practise. Parochialism on the part of posters really isn't a big issue. Only if it is apparent in the National Coach's selections does it become an issue, and I have a suspicion it has been apparent over the past 4 - 5 years.

I question how you view the year on year deterioration by the Wallabies since 2015 with that spine of players? Does success on the field rate second to the selection of Waratah players in the Wallabies side?

RY that's close to mine at this time too. I'd have CFS at 13 on his most recent form, Folau at 14 because he won't need to pass from left to right which he seems incapable, maybe Daugunu or Cam Clarke or Newsome at 11 and Maddocks at 15. I would not have both Hooper and Pocock in the 23. Only...

Doesn't alter the fact he had an absolute shocker. Personally, I wouldn't consider him to be a Super Rugby standard player let alone an AB.

R7: Waratahs vs Sunwolves - Friday 29 March @ Newcastle

Results of all games this year have been very hard to predict. Even the Hurricanes have won by 50 one week and been beaten by nearly as much the next. Form just about means nothing. At first glance, on form, this should be an easy win for the Tahs. And really it needs to be or else they will...

I certainly do think DHP's skills at fullback make him a better all round No 15 than Izzy. But Izzy's skills make him an excellent option at No 14. I wouldn't have Tom Banks in the squad at all this year.
