He isn't getting rave reviews at Clermont

    Waratahs 2017

No hate from me, but on his current output he is just more a "Matt Carraro" / "Andrew Smith" than a "Tim Horan"

    Waratahs 2017

Horwitz has been very, very effective in the NRC without being a star, I expect that will be his description going forward. I would guess he has limited out and out talent but a excellent work ethic and attitude. There is a definite role for players of that like in a squad His mistakes...

New Zealand v Wallabies, Eden Park, Sat 22nd October

Sometimes, but we both know nothing happens in isolation on a rugby field

I am not sure extra energy and pace will help against the ABs, Phipps will increase the tempo but we invariably run out of units, get turned over and that lack of units in play creates mismatches. The Abs will often put just enough pressure on at the ruck that we need to commit more numbers...

    Reds 2017

On the Reds thread that is described as "brimming with experience"

    Reds 2017

When we run a normal reserves split, it isn't unusual to see the reserve backrower to be a "lock/6" (or even a starting 6 or lock to be a "lock/6"), both Fardy and Mumm fit that bill. Higgers is another great option for 8 or 6. Is he back permanently or still running a Japanese contract...

Tahs, have recruited very well, they have a really good, but young, squad, I expect them to finish second in the conference

    Reds 2017

It is interesting to see the quality flocking back after the dud coach years The Reds have recruited very well, the only real question is the how a rookie coach will leverage the good recruitment and create an effective game plan.

I didn't realise Higgers could play as a lock\6 option

Pumas vs Wallabies - Sunday 9th October @ Twickenham

It isn't that hard to work it out, when they are both playing, you have each play in the way that suits their strengths while complimenting eachother's strengths.

Again, we don't know the instructions in the game plan, both McMahon and Hooper do it when instructed But I don't think that lost us that game

I again disagree, Pocock\Hooper is still a better combination of talent today than one of Pocock or Hooper with any of Timani/Houston/Holloway.

Pumas vs Wallabies - Sunday 9th October @ Twickenham

It just depends on the backrow configuration, with Pocock at 8 it makes sense for him to be the on-baller (his key strength) and allow Hooper be the ball runner out wider, not Pocock's key strength

Pumas vs Wallabies - Sunday 9th October @ Twickenham

My concern with him will be in the spot light in the next game, I expect the AB's to throw a lot more pressure at him, a big barging islander backrower is nothing new to them, but in this game he was solid It looked pretty clear that the plan was to tackle higher to stop off loads. It just...

It is sort of like he plays to the game plan and his role within that plan

Agreed, not with Hooper and Pocock in front of him, he is the "Matt Hodgson" of his generation.
