    Australia v England

They are in trouble for breaching team rules. I can understand why teams would have such rules and would enforce them without exception/discretion. I think we need to be careful making statements which imply anything otherwise untoward went on.

I agree - but things never seem to work out as the fans assume though. Paia’aua has the advantage of already having a coulple years experiencing playing next to Stewart. And there will always be injuries. Hopefully having a couple of guys like Paia’aua & CFS pushing to nail a starting role...

That’s a tough assessment on Stewart - especially given his limited opportunities at Super level. IMO he has things to work on but is far from crap. Personally I do think Paia’aua could be serviceable at 10, but would rather him at 12 or 15.

I can imagine 2 million Poms wanting a ticket to watch us towelled up

I am not sure that bewilderment was Eddie’s overriding emotion when he read the Wallabies team list.

I get the criticism of Ainsley - but to be fair to the bloke Robertson is injured, Smith not available & Slipper was left out most of Super rugby and was hardly killing them last time he played in Gold. That’s as far as I will go to defend any of the selections. I am otherwise completely...

Understand your comments about shuffling players around Gel - but Duncan has played both 10 & 15 previously, albeit not so much at 15, and has the skill set to be good there. He has been okay at 12 without kicking on. The other alternative (if Thorn goes with a Kerevi-Petaia centre combo) is...

I think he could transition to 15 pretty well.

It’s like we’re the New France. Without the fashion sense or cooking ability.

Dru - I get the gist - but the conversation wasn’t specifically about Hooper, it was a comparison of the contracts and the wisdom of signing Petaia to 4 yrs. You can, of course, skip over them.

No it’s not. $1 Million was too much to pay Hooper, or in fact anyone else in our current set up, including Pocock who has clearly demonstrated this year he is head and shoulders our most influential player. I have no problems with Hooper, not with him getting well paid or that they signed him...

I’m happy to see him given a 4 year coming contract. Yeah - he could flop. It doesn’t look likely to me, but there are no certainties. He could just as easily get much better again and command more money/more attention next time round. As far as I have read he attracted a fair bit of interest...

I might be alone - but I thought he was having his best game of the year until he got subbed on the weekend. I do otherwise agree though that, apart from his first test vs Ireland he otherwise hasn’t been great.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t prefer it. I’m saying I can’t see Cheika going that way. What do I know though. I will say IMO Cheika is between a rock and a hard place. Combination is about as important as player ability. The most settled combo he has is Foley & Beale. Would I prefer him to pick...

I don’t reckon there is any chance both Beale & Foley will he left out.

    Wallabies v Italy

I’m not calling for Petaia to be blooded against England. The opportunity for him was against Italy and, unfortunately, he lucked out. However when you are talking ‘brain power’ I am assuming you mean things like instincts, good decision making and good communication. I know Petaia is a big...

If the whole team played the house down, I would understand your comment - but we generally struggled & AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) clearly handled the occasion. We’re not talking promotion because he had a good game, he had a much better game then some of the other available options.

    Wallabies v Italy

In the current position we are in we are badly needing a few guys to stand up and grab their jersey with both hands, I thought AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) did that (as well as Kerevi). Having said that I would be perfectly happy if next week they were 12 & 13 instead.

And there is no excuse Quick Hands. I know we bemoan the lack of a long kicking game by our backs - but we also can’t execute a shallow contestable kick effectively either.
