Wallabies best 3-2-1 vs All Blacks in Hong Kong

    3. Beale. It was his dynamic running that won Australia the game 2. Pocock. Awesome play. He will kill the NH teams. 1. JOC (James O'Connor). Awesome last ten minutes. Special mention to Alexander, Sharpe, Rocky, McCalman, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) (who would have got the 1 point except for the last 10 mins), Mitchell...

    Bledisloe IV 2010 Hong Kong

The tour features five tests and two midweek games in 29 days. That is a huge workload, and way too much for 15 players. You may recall the game against Scotland last year (fourth game in a similar schedule). Everyone remembers Giteau missed the sitter, but that day the whole team played...

    Waratahs 2011

Right now 15 will be fine, we can think about 10 in a couple of seasons when injuries and overseas postings thin out our stocks at 10. Cooper and Barnes give us good cover at 10, and JOC (James O'Connor) is not bad either. Just as long as Giteau never pulls on a gold 10 jumper I'll be a happy man.

    Waratahs 2011

I'd like to see Horne get some time at 12, I think he would bring some of Carters direct running and good tackling plus he has a much better skillset passing and angle running. He played a lot of 12 as a schoolie, I think. But we are very light on for good 13's, so unless BKH steps up quickly...

    Waratahs 2011

Two years ago Beale almost won the final for us away against the Crusaders playing at 10. Last year a couple of average games early in a backline that was not using a plan that used Beale's skills saw him ousted and not make it back until the last three away rounds playing at 12. Deans then...

Thomond, You seem to speak Paarl very well. Can you become the official translator?

    Waratahs 2011

Yes, it does make Deans look good, but for me that's just an indicator of how bad Hickey is. Deans has strengths and weaknesses, so there are some things about the Wallaby season that are pluses (eg. Deans championed Beale long before Hickey belatedly gave him a chance). Maybe WJ can list...

    Waratahs 2011

Lee, It was Rugby Reg who wanted Nadolo instead of Anesi. I think as a Reds fan he's just trying to rub it in. While I used to be a Nadolo fan, the Top 14 stuff I saw from him this year has put me right off. Every game I have seen him in, he has been a turnstile. Pakalani on the video...

    Waratahs 2011

But it didn't have to be that way. Had Hickey given him a shot, we could have kept him here. From what I saw on match of the day (all I can get in Adelaide) he was going really well in Shute except for his place kicking. Being a superior performer in Shute is a prerequisite for a full Tahs...

English Clubs restricting RWC preparation for non English test players

Not having central contracts has few pro's and the con's are self evident. The chief con is that playing for country is subservient to playing for club, and that's just prima facie wrong.

    Waratahs 2011

I don't know whether to start an incandescent rant or just give up and wait for 2012. All that can be said is that these recruitments are on par with a number of other very bad Hickey decisions. We now know why D'Arcy went, he was obviously told he wasn't good enough and wouldn't get a shot at...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

That takes the cake! What person with an ounce of brains would announce to the world that he had lost his passport?

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Ruggo is spot on! Why are we trying to squeeze him in anywhere when his play has varied between poor and diabolical for the whole season?

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Fainga'a is not ready for full internationals yet, he was caught out badly in defence last time and Nonu will be told to run at him all day. Cooper and Barnes for 10/12, the rest I agree with and I too believe that would win us the game, providing the forwards do not fade in the last 20 minutes.

    Bledisloe IV 2010 Hong Kong

I think Reg is very close to Dingo's team except Giteau will be in the run-on. In terms of the team that should play I think Barnes over Giteau is a no-brainer. Barnes to kick with Beale taking the long range shots, Cooper third choice. Mitchell to replace JOC (James O'Connor) so we have a winger who...

Maybe they'll play Ma'afu at THP and Robbie will finally get the message. One can but hope.

    Prop Dilemma

I only saw it on I-view so I haven't got a copy to review but my memory says that the third scrum was destabilised by the uni pack boring in on the angle trying to disrupt what they couldn't resist. Walsh saw it differently and let it go. I would have awarded a penalty try under the posts...

Never mind the parentage, we just need a rich sponsor who can do a good side deal.:)

Classic. Should go in the great quotes thread, its up there with the best. Dennis Commetti would be proud.

    Prop Dilemma

I agree that we'll have fantastic depth if they all stay in Australia, but I would expect to see some of them (Moore and TPN) going to Europe to further their careers after the World Cup. If they come back home in 2014 though, there'll be a log jam of hookers for the next world cup.
