Round 2 - Force vs Reds, NIB Stadium, 2nd March @ 6:30pm (AWST)

This isn't League you know. Where you are actually from means something in Rugby.

Round 2 - Force vs Reds, NIB Stadium, 2nd March @ 6:30pm (AWST)

I have no issue with the idea that given the circumstances Queenslanders can literally convince themselves that is is true. Just like Leumeah and Wagga are part of Queensland. Or Macksville if we want to include other codes.

Round 2 - Force vs Reds, NIB Stadium, 2nd March @ 6:30pm (AWST)

Never know, perhaps a Queenslander walked past Jonno's delivery suite. Or at least within 5km of it. Good enough. Right.

Lance is from Canberra. Typical bloody Queenslanders having trouble with geography again.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I've signed up and will be giving it a run this evening.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Clubs would effectively run elite squads of 25 or so players. With their '2nds' being a mox of guys pushing for inclusion/up and coming youngsters. The facts are if the clubs want to position themselves as an elite tier and one with commercial entertainment value they need to alter their...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

YouTube have just announced the launch of YouTube TV. A subscription service that offer access to 40 channels for $35 a month. Likely restricted to the US market at present but YouTube has the ability to roll this out very quickly. Another very interesting new broadcast option.

    Back to the future.

Just looked up its ratings as well and they appear to be trending down as well. Still quite good but actually quite comparable to the WBBL. As for Super Netball it started strong but it appears they didn't manage to be in the top 20 programs for last Saturday. Compared to the Saturday before...

Netball and Cricket have been immensely popular for a long time. Nothing new there. The AFLW is interesting and legitimately a new competitor.

Yep. I tend to believe that while it is still a very underdeveloped market Asia post 2019 is an opportunity too good not really look to engage with. Particularly with the level of investment coming from the likes of Alisports in China.

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Yes and no. It provides a number of clubs a pathway to both play a major role in the overall development of the talent within the game while maintaining the social side of the equation. Ideally this would force the clubs to collaborate even further than at present to remain in the loop. This...

    Back to the future.

I'd build in that a little. Allow for the Wild Knights to enter Super Rugby and find a way to make a 2nd Argentine squad work. Have then enter the SA conference to bring it to 10 teams as well. This way we would have two ten team conferences. Play home and away for 18 rounds within each conference with...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

There certainly is that danger. You would hope those making these decisions would have consulted their broadcast partners about the likely impact on the overall value of the deals. If it means we end up with less in the kitty then we should be fighting any reduction of our teams tooth and nail...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

The flip side of that is with the monies saved from dropping one franchise could be redirected to better resource the NRC which is that semi-professional tier with alternative variations designed to promote attacking Rugby.

I certainly think it would be an interesting exercise brave as well. One that I wouldn't mind seeing as a means to growing the brand into new markets. I'd structure it in conferences much like Super Rugby is now. Purely for geographic reasons. So you would have Super A Asia-Pacific, Super A Americas etc...

2017 TV ratings and crowd figures

Would be intereseting to see if they inclide Foxtel Play figures. As that's what I use to watch my Rugby.

Or you could just go with a straight H/A season for 18 games plus a 4 team finals series. If you go to 12 teams i'd still keep it at that for 22 rounds if we can get the June Test window pushed back to July. Then have a 6 team finals series.

2017 TV ratings and crowd figures

He was only covering the games that involve Australian teams. The same as last year.

    Shute Shield 2017

It's not that jagged astroturf anymore. It's supposed to be softer than grass while maintaining the necessary grip for players when it comes to scrums.
