    TV Rights and promotion

Yeah in my opinion the quality of local rugby is superior to the local football comp and that is shown of Fox with most games live. Rugby needs a big money backer to finance rugby on TV. ABC used to show a game a week and a QRU insider told me it cost them $80K to make it happen.

Ex-Ruggers in Toyota Cup Team of the Year

That's correct RR. Lama Tasi is an Ippy Grammar old boy.

    Qld Premier Colts

Having had my team play against GPS and Brothers over the last couple of weeks I would have to say that Frisby was by far the more dangerous player. While I have seen Grasso rip teams apart in the past I haven't seen the same from him when I have watched him this year. I would have thought Genia...

So GPS will be playing Gold Coast in the GF after dishing up Uni yesterday. Preliminary Final GPS 50 (C Nasiganiyavi 3, M Garland, D Lindsay, J Bremner, T Winkley, T Richards tries P Smith 5 cons) d University 33 (G Morseu 2, S Rasolea, K Boucaut, T Mills tries, S Hopkins 4 cons) I'm not sure...

Thought I should put up the Brisbane U19 team Brisbane Under 19 (blue and gold hoops) 1 Lyall Fidow (University) 2 Alex Casey (Souths) 3 William Tuli (Sunnybank) 4 Stuart Williamson (Souths) 5 Dan McGhee...

    Qld Premier Colts

So tomorrow we find out who will be playing Gold Coast in the GF. GPS long undefeated streak came to an end last week with their close loss to the Breakers. Uni on the other hand have won their last 6 games and have been playing sudden death rugby for a while. I am going to tip Uni but I am a...

I personally am not a big fan of the week off but now that I have injuries the 3 key players I would love it. I think the week off can mess up the routine of the team.

Yeah I know. You would think that Jono Lance, Ian Prior, Luke Morahan and Tevita Kuridrani would have made things easier not harder. Funny how team dynamics work.

    Qld Premier Colts

Thanks Doc. That won't be an issue this year with almost every grade in the club making the finals no one will be returning to Colts.

So off to Ballymore this Sunday at 1:20 to see who goes straight into the GF and who drops out of the race. On Ballymore 1 minor premiers Gold Coast take on GPS to qualify for the big show a fortnight latter. Gold Coast had the second best attack with 549 and 5th best defence conceding 362...

    Waratahs 2011

You guys are very harsh on the bloke. I think Noddy hit the nail on the head with his description, via fatprop, of Carter. He does a great job for the Tah's in getting them on the front foot. He knows what his job is in the team and goes out each week and does it. I think the situation mentioned...

In the case of Will Slipper it's much better that he learn playing for the Wallabies.

I think that is why Link has been talking about changing the Academy system in QLD. Trying to move away from having 15 kids to having a mixture of experienced club players and young talent for development with a view for the experienced players to cover for injuries in the top squad.

The playing rugby in 2010 thread.

Where abouts are you AB? By the sounds of it you should go OK. If you are fit and strong you will pick up everything else quite easily. It's a bit like riding a bike. You never forget how to do it.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

State High offer opportunities for students outside their school zone to attend on the basis of academic, musical and sporting achievement from what I understand (they may offer them in other area too). While it isn't a scholarship for the purposes of this debate they do "import" these students...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

My understanding is that Nudgee, State High, Ippy, Churchie, TSS and BGS all recruit players to some degree. I know GT don't. BBC and TGS I am not sure of. I know TGS had a deal with the Broncos and league scholarships but don't know if it still happens. From what I have read and heard TSS seem...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

This is a great thread and it is very interesting getting an inside into how things work in NSW. It seems to be that here in Qld schools are happy to hand out "scholarships" to anyone who has some rugby talent. If you go to some junior games around Brisbane you can see quite a few people from...

    Reds 2011

I think it would be great if a team played out of Ballymore. Brothers wouldn't move there as they own their grounds (my understanding but could be wrong) and Norths is the other option but I think they should move further from the city not closer. I enjoyed it when we had to play there on a...
