    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Lol. There's putting your foot in it, then there's putting both feet in it and then there's rolling around in it until you're covered all over :) Martin did the latter :)

Fixed. He just seems totally ineffective around the paddock. What's with Deysel? A couple of years ago I went fark, look at this unit. Big, fast, big hits but he just doesn't seem to make an impact on the game?

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Johann Muller failed a fitness test and will be replaced by Alistair Hargreaves. Improves the lineout but Big Al is a bit of a fairy. They are missing a trick with Deysel on the bench in this weather. He should be starting with Rossouw moving to 5. But that would be logical. PdV does not do...

I watched to Boks train in a torrential downpour two days ago. Didn't seem to bother them.

Welcome to John Smit land. It's a strange and frustrating place to be in.

    ITM Cup VS Shute Shield

Just watched the Aukland Otago game on Fox and I have to say that the likes of Randwick and Eastwood would compete admirably but the rest would get hammered by the top four or 5 ITM teams.

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Australia by ten. Anything less will look pretty bad. South Africa A / B / 'Holding pattern' teams have never done well. Regardless of weather the ks will play a fairly simple game plan. PdV is a glass half full kind of guy and will go into the match with an attitude of keeping the score low...

Playin 10 until the last 2 matches. I agree he should have started but I can see why they are cautious. I am happy he is being managed carefully.

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Lambie has played most of his rugby at 10. Not surprised they aren't starting him at 15. Not sure what's weak about the back 3. Very quick and Aplon has a good boot. It's a very physical pack but not a skilled one in any way. It will be kitchen sink with no fuss.

Not worried about the front row. The Bulls boys and Smit looks pretty good to me.

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Tough one, and depends if they pick on form or based on reputation and keeping incumbents. The guys who will push hard for the first 22: Lambie Aplon Basson Steyn Pienaar Brussow Rossouw and of course Smit who will be there. As i have said before that is potentially a better backline than the...

Greyling, Kruger, Oosthuizen, Johnson, Hargreaves. From memory, Jantjes was capped last year. Paarl should be able to confirm.

Morne Steyn. No need to look further.

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Likely Springbok holding team. :) 1. Greyling (best loosehead in SA this year for my money better scrummager than Oosthuizen) 2. Smit 3. Kruger 4. Flip vd Merwe - tough, no nonsense, great at the collision 5. Hargreaves - very good lineout player, good with ball in hand but a bit of a wimp in...

How anyone in their right mind would select Alexander before Baxter is way out of my brain space. And especially after this season which was the best I have ever seen Al Baxter play. Wake up Robbie. Swallow your pride and pick to bloke. No time to fuck around.

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

This same Samoa team pushed the likes of England to the wall last year. They are a well drilled team and for the first time I can remember there are no apparent weaknesses about them. Solid scrum, okay lineout, excellent play at the breakdown with fantastic counter rucking. A great 9, 10, 12...

S15 Most watched match on TV

PS I also think SARU is under no illusion that it needs the other two parties as much as it needs them. They're not bloody stupid. No other comp will work for any of the three parties because the economics will never work. It's the way it chooses to negotiate that leaves a bad taste. The Japs...

S15 Most watched match on TV

Agreed. It's highly unlikely that this poisoned marriage will dissolve so learn to live with it. Every year come negotiation time there will be sratching and clawing and everyone including fans and media will grasp the chance of claiming the moral high ground. SARU's behavior is...

    Latest SA 3n excuse

Really? Safest according to who? And related how? Any airline can find some sort of "independent" study that declares them best / safest etc. Well ok maybe not Air Pakistan. Qantas seems to have an awful lot of emergency landings and near disasters. Anyway I avoid flying them unless there is...
