    15 Man Rugby

Is it just me or did the subject matter change here. I know that Jason Gilmore wasn't the man behind 15manrugby. Interesting to see him move to TGS. I will be watching how they go over the next couple of years.

    15 Man Rugby

I gave him a few match reports a couple of years ago that he kindly put up on his site. I had some great chats with him at different rugby games around and while I didn't always agree with him I always left those talks with a great buzz just from his love of the game. 15 man rugby will be missed...

    Reds 2011

I took my kids out yesterday and they enjoyed themselves. Was very relaxed with the Reds players mixing in with the crowd. They had a few things set up for kids to test their skills. Passing, vertical jump and 40m sprint. The Jumping castle was the biggest hit with my boys but they were a bit...

    Rugby Sevens

In the States they use 7's for a development pathway for a lot of transition athlete's (former Football players) with some success. I think it could be used the same way here. I would be a big fan of a 7's circuit. It could fill the void between the end of the club season and the November tour...

    Qld Premier Colts

I know that Uni only have a couple of guys from this years squad who will be back next year. It is very early to work out teams as a lot of guys don't make up their mind until training has started next year. RR maybe it is the real Noddy :)

    Reds 2011

Simon had a very good year in Colts at Uni. He started at fullback then at 12 and ended up at 10. I see his future closer in probably at 12 but I could be proven wrong (he has the skill to play anywhere from 10-15 but might not have the pace of some of the other guys mentioned). When he went on...

Jerseys; the good, the bad and the ugly

Yeah the Bushpigs one was from the 2000 season when I was living at Thredbo and I managed to pick it up off someone I worked with. The VRC one is my favourite for the design and because of the time I spent there. Was from their 100th season of playing rugby.

GPS 1st XV and Premier Colts players. One of them was a schoolboy rep and played All American Collegiate so if you are of a good standard you should stand out.

    National U/16 Championships 2010

I'm being a bit pedantic but in QLD secondary school starts in Grade 8. Would be an interesting stat though. I do know a few guys who have been on "scholarships" since grade 8 (not officially rugby ones but it does play a part in the selection)

UCal drops Rugby from top tier of sports funding

I know a couple of UQ boys have been to Arizona Uni on scholarships. One of my players from this year was going to go next season but he failed some subjects and didn't qualify. I would have loved the opportunity when I was younger.

    National U/16 Championships 2010

The Queensland teams are picked from schoolboy rugby, club rugby and state champs. They pick about 100 kids at the start and cull them down each week at training. The system works quite well as some very good talent can be found. The truth of the matter though is that the majority of the talent...
