    Shute Shield 2014

It should be a rep team and you need to make selection, imagine if the Tahs had to select 2 players from each SS team. I'd be surprised if all clubs agreed equal quota for the Nth Harbour team. Shouldn't they be the aspiring players in the 3T and not 23 / 4 teams? If you warrant selection you...

Quade telling it how it is

Ruggo my fault, some people put shit on him without knowing him, or the full story (not me). Given what he has done on and off the field I hunted it down to say - well done, and suggest people don't put shit on people without knowing the full story (media especially).

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

No sweat, I want to see it work, I enjoy watching players that have come through the system - and just sharing some ideas.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

RC - I was not sniping, I simply said I enjoy watching players come through the system. I want to see it work, and I want to see WA & VIC develop, surely there has to be a happy medium - to brick walls up with no flex ability creates a box. We need to have some give and take and that will...

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Yep, and it can some times look like all I'm thinking about is Shute / Club rugby - but the Tah's haven't really brought good rugby to the table yet (good improvement last year though), and if I did follow them I'd be following allot of Sydney Uni players and I cant do that can i ;) I also...

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

I'd love to see NSW and QLD players return as i enjoy watching quality rugby and players that have gone through the system and made a career out of rugby. But I also want t see the 3T succeed and WA and VIC develop with a stronger player base so all our provinces are less reliant on just the 2...

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

So only one of the possibles step up made it to the Wobs this year as a starter but only after injury / suspension, and Speight is earmarked so that may put Badger back another peg. Plus we have the likes of Palu and Higgers coming back. I'm sure it will possibly be > 80% Soup, plus any new...

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

Given they have less than a handful of Wallabies want they be fielding basically a Super 15 team? Why shouldn't they look to replace the couple of Wallabies from their local comp? Given it appears WA and VIC are simply extending their Super Season whilst the other teams need to develop a team I...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

@Quick Hands - good thread. I wonder how the numbers fair if we split Private and Public Schooling. I understand it has reduced in the Public System, have the playing numbers reduced in the Private Schools? Would it be possible to field village teams in the Saturday Private comp?

And no doubt a fend like Jonah as well.

Players to watch in 2014 - The Goal of the NRC

TEN members of the Manly Marlins 2013 grand final Colts side have been earmarked as potential NSW Waratahs. The group has been selected to train with the NSW Colts Academy squad. The 10 will be vying for selection in the NSW side to play in the Australian Rugby Union’s new national Under-20...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Not going to argue, we can sell all sorts of approaches, and I want to see it work. I want to see their fringe players having a chance, I want to see the U19 / U20 / U21 having a crack in a 3T Under 21's comp. Whilst Rebels and Force can be classified as Employers, fund their players so...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

It is a hard balance. But why should the ARU fund the Force, and also The Rebs so they can then fund a very professional 3T team that may consist of yes, their "staff / players" that may have come from NSW & QLD. Whilst NSW and QLD 3T teams don't have the same sort of funding that they are...

100% Agree - but it is a hard balance.

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

But a salary cap system, costs, and then requires compliance. Something that would be good to avoid at the start

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

That's what I'm talking about. Plus I want to start seeing their local players develop and what better way than having them step up.

Pro's and Cons both ways - and you could sell benefits either way.

It might have short term pain, but I think long term gain. I think the Syd, and Bris players should return to their state and they have to pick local. If an u21's team is included this will start developing the depth for the coming years.

The Impending Beale vs Folau vs Cooper debate

Not sure why this thread exists - the EOY tour cemented Cooper and Folau in my eyes. Beale's impact may change under Chieka & Link though, he has fantastic individual skill in which under his coaches for the last 5 years hasn't really been taken advantage of when looking at game management and...
