Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

Genia's poor kick forward to gift possession unnecessarily led to the majority of our backwards movement on last 7 mins or so...reminds me of his ill judged box kicks in RWC...

    Waratahs V Force - Superugby Rd 4

Gagger, can I turn your focus momentarily to the Tahs' management and coaching. They are now 1-3 for a season that seemed full of promise, what with Foley's promotion, big Wallaby count, etc. Gnostic posited last year with some thoroughness a long post: 'The tragedy of the modern Tahs' wherein...

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

I've just gotten home from a fabulous Bon Iver concert at the Tivoli, so the adrenalin's up and I'm up for the 1:05am start. Love the pivoting uncertainty of top rugby games; we've had a week of good argument as to who'll win and why, now the moment of truth is here and no is sure of anything...

    Waratahs V Force - Superugby Rd 4

100% right Moono. Just look at the Force's year-on-year mediocrity of outcome as per Bret Harris' article in the The Australian today. TOCC last year supplied the crowd figures to show the annual year-on-year decline in Force gate numbers. And good/great players have left or are leaving faster...

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

Kafe's giving us lots of encouragement for the SA tour. But to be fair to his consistency, he's said from the first that we'd struggle to stay at the top without QC (Quade Cooper)...

    Waratahs V Force - Superugby Rd 4

Agree, he's a tremendous talent in the making. The Force are getting so desperate to repair their obvious backline train wreck that DM could well be in their sights...and it's proven that they prefer Queenslanders ;-)...

'If you can afford to lose it', then go for it as it's probably the most rational scenario if you/we buy Link's building-for-better-soon assessment, which we Reds' fans do...can't break the habit.

    Chiefs v Brumbies Super Rugby R4 2012

Can we say it again with feeling: the impressive, nearly immediate impact of superior, competent coaching and the related skills in selection, team culture building and motivation. Here it is at work folks! Just like the type of improvements Link achieved with the early 2010 Reds, 6 or so months...

    Chiefs v Brumbies Super Rugby R4 2012

But so much good in the 'new' Brumbies! Wow, they look on a good path to me.

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

I don't know who's going to win v the Sharks on SA Saturday. But I do know one, very important, thing: We have been here before. Virtually every game of 2011, much including the GF v CRU, there was a retinue of learned rugby observers and wise posters most of whom articulated, with great...

    Waratahs 2012

I agree. Ioane's ball handling/security, passing, and sensing when to pass and when to hold, and general kicking from hand are IMO inferior to Mitchell's (comparing both over a period of games). Ioane is a wonderful line and tackle breaker, and angle-of-running-attack winger, but he's far from a...

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

Yes with bells on. Totally transforms this rugby franchise to a place of economic strength (after repaying the ARU debt) it's never, ever been before in terms of cash gate income flow, sponsorship $s that flow from that in time, and media viewership that ultimately flows through v positively to...

Didn't Frisby by report show some real flashes of talent in the trial games?

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

Love Gill, but I do think Beau showed a full replica of his peak 2011 form last week. He was superb. And Link has stated that he'll regularly swap those two to preserve freshness and lower injury exposure over the whole season.

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

Rod Davies at 15 v Sharks at home has to be one of Link's most calculated risks of all time, but there's much to like about all the other changes. I was really pleased to see Van back last week, and to do so well at it, will be intriguing to see how he handles the start v the Sharks pack.

Weight of 'local' money no doubt. Lucky then that there's just one or two of us Reds true believers left.

Reds vs Sharks Rnd 4 2012

Paarl, out of interest, what % of your life savings are you going to bet on a Sharks win on Saturday? Your confidence is supreme and grows by the day, and I would have thought you'd get good odds backing the Sharks.
