    Digby banned for five weeks

Then that's not 'a judiciary' worth its name. Consistency and transparency are the hallmarks of any half-decent laws' policing system that aims to create both legitimacy and respect, let alone the demonstration of natural justice.

    Digby banned for five weeks

BH, thanks, great vid work. Shows how mindbogglingly inconsistent is both the policing, and penalty banning period system.

    Digby banned for five weeks

Remind me someone please: how long was QC (Quade Cooper) out for his similar offence? If I'm not mistaken, this means that precedents mean little and we have a vast range of ban periods with little explicable consistency. There will almost certainly be a robust appeal from the QRU.

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

That is ridiculous given precedents, and, yes, awful news for us. We're sure to appeal I'd think, with a good chance of getting that materially reduced.

Fair point indeed SG...but, not being pedantic, didn't GA play at least part of the previous match in NZ vs the Chiefs? Just to put out there some counter-data, do you recall A Fainga'a's Wallaby debut ABs in NZ (Christchurch IIRC) with a super-partisan crowd? AF is a great, top class defender...

    Waratahs vs Sharks - RD5 2012

FWIW, I think you're right, and I want to see the mighty Tahs vanquish the highly disappointing Reds' loss. The SA media and our happy band of Saffers here have rapidly created a mythical notion that the Sharks 'attained a truly magnificent performance against the champs'. Credit to any...

    One question to ask JON

I have some for you, but I don't want to the man that led you to being escorted from the room by ARU security on the grounds of inciting 'undue controversy'.;)

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

Hey, so well said Bowside! That great April 2010 day for the Reds, I was in London and had to persuade a nearby sports bar to open early and to put the game on for me. There were a few soccer and perhaps a few rugby guys that looked through the window and drifted in (for multiple pints at 10 in...

    Gregan v JON

rugbyisfun: hey, go you good thing. JO'N yesterday told Bret Harris of The Aus: "I'm not giving anyone a lesson in corporate governance 101. We have been extremely fortunate to have an outstanding board, whose ability to act in the best interests of the company has been evident."...

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

It's a fact they we've really had the Bulls well worked out in 2010 and 2011 at home, last year's strong win at Suncorp was even sweeter than that fabulous win in 2010 (I'll never forget the Higgers try outrunning the Bulls' backs to score). But playing away with our injuries (3 10s out, etc...

    Gregan v JON

Nothing intrinsically wrong with 'agendas' per se; it all depends upon the quality of the agenda in relation to the code's strategic needs in Australia.

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

Davies' size, nervy tone atm, fragility under the offensive high ball that the Bulls will surely deploy in quantity, ok but not great boot, means he does concern me v Bulls at 15. He may be better replacing Diggers at wing, his natural slot and one likely to be vital if we play the way we did in...

Reds vs Bulls Rnd 5 2012.

Agree tl12, he's been shocking, for no explicable reason. Link is either blind-spotted on him for some reason, or sees no alternative. With the Bulls' kicking game the likely scenario, a good 15 could be as important as a 10, and it may be wise to plant Dallan M at 15 given this (also not to...

    Gregan v JON

GCO, haha, but top point! With The Aus's Wayne Smith - who's no great friend of JO'N and the ARU - reporting that GG has had some tense run-ins with JO'N, this almost certainly means GG has quietly let it be known that he has no intention of being yet another pot plant of an ARU board member...

How useful or accurate are player stats

Not so much to the issue of individual player stats, more their usefulness in aggregate in terms of final team yield and game outcome, I find grave limits in the whole stats platform for rugby (and potentially just as much as per other codes and sports). In that this: there is no work I have...

2012 S15 New Kids on the Block

No one here seems to think Dom Shipperley has adequately impressed. I do, based upon his play and scores to date in 2012.

    Rebels v Cheetahs - Round 4 - Super Rugby 2012

SAH. Watched this game with genuine hope the Rebels would break through and win. I concluded this, FWIW: the Rebels have excellence in the making, but they're just being badly held back by some inexplicable, ordinary retentions of older players that are way past it when, in NSW and QLD, there...

    Gregan v JON

Do you think GG will now get a look at the infamous 'independent report' re the ARU's RWC '11 assessment? It's only been over 3 weeks since it was 'reviewed' by the ARU board and there's been multiple leaks of new assistant coaches for Deans... Needless to say, after the fans were told that...

    Waratahs 2012

Bruce, I absolutely agree to not go with TC was, well, inexplicable in this game especially with TPN's declaration that kicking was a central plank of the game plan. But, IMO, there's many inexplicable elements to the Tahs and NSWRU policies re same, this is no. 26 in a queue waiting for the...
