    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

As an off shoot to private school scholarshipsto the above, historically; rugby players also had professional careers, and the old private school tie. league players didn't always follow the same path. since rugby turning professional are we starting to see a change in this trend? I'm all...

Sydney Junior Rugby Union - 2013

I hope my kids are playing that much sport, I'd much rather that extra curricular activity than some of the others we see in this day and age. We should be looking to keep our kids busy with school and sport.

They do the right things to build that support and will maintain that focus. No doubt it will flow through to the Nth Hbr team.

I remember in the early 90's there was a report on each game in the Sunday paper.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Very short via phone. Junior Rugby solely through schools, either strong stand alone or zone reps, A's, B's, B's etc. With the support of the ARU, the Shute Shield / 3T entities run an Auskick type program through the schools really promoting it through all age groups. Maybe some of the...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Speaking to a kiwi the other week, not sure how it is now but through his schooling he said - there was no junior clubs, it was all school boy rugby. Then from school it was U19 and clubs were ensuring players flowed to clubs. Rugby is a culture over there though, so a tough comparison. Some...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

I think if they are contracted by the Force or the Rebs they should be allowed to play 3T. I think they should be used to help develop rugby in WA, and VIC. But I'm also pushing for a set number of local players needing to be selected. However not the case for the Red's, Tah's, or Brumbies...

Gaff had a worthy rant, and he did bring up some good points. Up until the 3T - I thought / liked the Shute teams working together as a pathway for the players. I don't and won't ever like their idea of not letting the players back to the Shute "if the players want to go back". Why - because I...

Yes, and having players U21 being exposed to higher quality rugby will assist in this development.

Spot on. I know and agree time is involved, but I think the Force and the Rebs should look at graduating players from the local as fast as possible. I do think guidelines on progression need to be implemented at the start, I.e. number of local players that need to be drafted - and this would...
