You have got to be kidding. That might be acceptable if the participants were paid for their time,but the reverse is true. Anyone who trained a kid all Summer and didn't give him a run,isn't fit to be training kids.

If you are paying starters rates for who those you consider bench players,you can't afford to match what your star players can earn elsewhere. Imagine the uproar if the Reds lost Quade because they were keeping a couple of bench players happy.

I hope you are right,however I think the success of the comp will more likely be judged by TV viewer numbers in the long term. TV contracts seem to be the engine that drives most sports these days.
