BIL Tour 2013: Wallaby Squad Strategy & Plans

Some of us were intrigued to read just this week that the ARU has decided - on economic viability grounds - to prune the number of contracted Wallabies back to 32 only. Then Nuci and RD will decide the $ size of each player's contract within that quota. None of this seemed to attract too much...

    Reds v Brumbies - Super Rugby Round 7 2012

Maybe Lane will be the new Cooper ;-)

Rebels v Blues, Round 7 2012, AAMI Park

The huge positive was that the Rebels got both attack and defense together for all of 80, that's major progress and, whatever, the Blues put some top players on the park.

Gradual Unfurling of New Wallaby Coaches

Nuci and Robbie: Scenes from an HR Session Fortuitously, a friend of mine has just returned from Instanbul. Although known as the ultimate bazaar, I was still surprised when he arrived back with a purchase of a faded copy of a ‘confidential’ set of rough notes apparently taken in a recent...

    Reds v Brumbies - Super Rugby Round 7 2012

With the ultimate rookie (to Reds) Lane at 10 and in a very high pressure S15 match, we are officially now in 'total experimental rugby R&D mode'. Optimal fan approach: Get pissed and enjoy the ride.

QRU: $2m Surplus for 2011: ARU Repaid 2 Years Early

This is posted solely in celebration of competent franchise management and success for a heartland of Australian rugby, where sustained failure would have been fatal:

    Waratahs 2012

I find Twitter is rapidly mutating from its origin as a place of (sort of) amusing tiny little compressed tales of life's banalities or feelings, to a kind of 24/7 mass personal marketing channel, like micro-TV with only text, but where everyone has their baby micro-station essentially doing...

Go, Cave Dweller go! Can't wait for your team on these shores, and vice versa. Thanks for taking the trouble to increase our appetites for both good beef and your rugby!

Gradual Unfurling of New Wallaby Coaches

Very interesting article that, very. The Aussie S15 teams are struggling to make their 30 team number constraint work effectively to win games after just 6 Rounds. So we now learn that - on cost cutting grounds - only 32 Wallaby contracts will be offered, with individual's $ compensation...

As an aside, he was excellent I thought as a neutral when watching as he reffed Wales v England at Twickers this year.

Did Wallabies' 2011 EOYT hurt Aus Conf 2012 S15?

Yes indeed Bullrush, thanks for keeping this line of thought going to its correct end-point: the potential vicious circle of decline Aus S15 and Wallaby rugby could get itself into unless we are very, very careful to balance the expansion, fitness and quality of good players with the many more...

    Reds v Brumbies - Super Rugby Round 7 2012

People may have forgotten: yes, the Reds were on the lazy side v Brums at Suncorp last year, but it was principally the Brums' excellent forwards' work that stunned the Reds, cruelled their quick ball hunger, and forged the win.

The Early Years of Californian Rugby, with Aussies

A gem of an article: http://www.theroar.com.au/2012/04/04/aussie-rugby-california-dreamin/ Did you know the history of the 'Kangaroo Waratahs'?

    Reds v Brumbies - Super Rugby Round 7 2012

What Link needs to do first and f-ing foremost (a) is to find out why his forwards have not been performing to anything like the required skill and intensity and ditto with general defensive attitude and application across the XV, and (b) get a grip as to why his coaching team are not fixing...

    Reds v Brumbies - Super Rugby Round 7 2012

I tend to agree, on the data so far. That scenario would be fantastic for Aus rugby, so I applaud its direction and aspiration!

Did Wallabies' 2011 EOYT hurt Aus Conf 2012 S15?

I'm glad of the workload protection, annual leave rights and such like for our players under the RUPA agreement. All good. My point is if you want to expand the number and time proximity of top level games played per annum (which the ARU clearly does and has), then, in logical sequence, you...

    Reds v Brumbies - Super Rugby Round 7 2012

You're so right Lb41. And if you go back and compare how our Reds' forwards performed in all those 'lacking style' hard grafting games in 2011, with how they've fronted up and performed in S15 2012, the difference is night and day.
