    Deans confirmed until 2013

Deans has been good for Australian rugby and has built depth but It is not as if we were languishing at the bottom of the world rankings before he came on the scene. Depth has always been an issue but we have punched well above our weight for the last 25 years.

    Deans confirmed until 2013

At least by 2013 we should have the deepest depth in world rugby. That's something.............right?

So, the Australian scrum. Am I worrying too much?

Our scrum was a shambles last year with so many front rowers down. It should have been better regardless of this. The last time we had a very good test scrum was when Foley was coaching the Wallaby forwards. Our scrum has been noticeably weaker and more disorganised since his departure. I know...

So, the Australian scrum. Am I worrying too much?

I have to ask the question....why would we have a suspect scrum? The Waratahs had one of the better Super scrums. The Brumbies, Force and Rebels had good Super scrums. And the Australian Super side with the least effective scrum were minor premiers and went on to win the final against...

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

It's a done deal. So now we have to rethink our front row and switching Kepu to the loosehead side is not such a bad idea. Some here claim he is our best scrummager. If so he can probably do more damage from that side while Slipper and Alexander hold up the TH spot.

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

Who else would you put there right now? Yes, he likes to showboat and score tries but he was very effective at scrum time a couple of years ago and he can be again this year.

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

This is very Sad for Fat Cat. He has had a good year and looked to be getting back to his best form. He is still young and should be around for the next RWC. It is not the end of the world for the Wallabies. We can still have a GOOD scrum without Robinson. Alexander, Kepu and Moore make a...

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

I realise that and think that maybe Deans thinks of him as a LH who can play at TH. If he was thinking Kepu was his TH he would start him there now and Alexander at LH. I reckon he has Alexander or Slipper pegged as his starting TH. If he was going to play Kepu at TH for the second half he...

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

Deans may just have Alexander as his #1 TH. Probably wants to recreate our successful 2009 scrum. Or he has Slipper pegged as our TH. Either way Kepu is down the order for now.

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

That would mean that Timani has leapfrogged Simmons? I reckon Deans just wants to have a look at both Timani and Vicks and see where they are at knowing already where his other 3 locks are. Alexander or Slipper are probably the bench prop (with the other 1st choice TH) with Kepu the next in...

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

He was probably intending to play Robinson at LH with Kepu on the bench. When Robinson was injured he just pushed Kepu into that spot rather than rethink the whole front row..

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

We will have to agree to disagree on this one TOCC.

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

But this is not the Tri Nations and the point was that all 3 SANZAR sides agreed to and committed to fielding their best test sides in all 3Ns tests. This is the only test we have this year that gives us a chance to experiment a little and we have some uncapped players in our squad along with a...

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

Isn't Timani contracted to the Waratahs next season?

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

There is a lot to get through in this one off test with Samoa. The Brumbies players have not played for a while and need a run before the Tri nations, particularly Rocky. The fringe players should get a run in this test to see how they go at test rugby rather than against SA or NZ. We also...

    strategies for the tri nations

I cannot quite work out what the Boks strategy is. Are they trying to give us and the Blacks a false sense of security before the SA leg of the tournament?

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

I wouldn't be surprised to see JOC (James O'Connor) on the wing and Giteau at 12 but to suggest he is less able to deal with the physical aspects of 12 than Gits is no longer valid. A. Fainga'a has been playing 13 most often lately and I doubt he is an option at 12.
  19. Joe Blow

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

JOC (James O'Connor) is stronger than Gits. He has no problem dealing with big forwards and he spends a lot of time clearing out in rucks and mauls. He is a very robust player. Size and strength are no longer an issue for him. JOC (James O'Connor) outside Cooper will be a serious mare for all opposition. If we don't see...

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

So what does Deans do? He has a handful of green players in his squad, and a couple of old hands who haven't played at the op level for a while. Does he rest some incumbents and give the aforementioned a run or does he play what he feels is his best side so they can get some combinations going...
