Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Don't forget that Beale is out for the season with shoulder surgery. I think that Folau is the likely 15 currently. Outside of Folau, I'm actually not overly enthused with our choice of outside backs for the RC right now. First time in a long time that I've thought that our back three are a...

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

I'd say that Foley would likely go as Lealiifano covers the third 10. Would be surprised if S. Finger went, as I think they will keep a third hooker. Same may be true for Phipps as well. Link might swap Schatz for Dennis (or gone completely with Foley to make room for a 3rd hooker - S...

    Reds 2014

Yeah, Ant was always well down the list for either 12 or 13. Third at best at 13 (AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Kuridrani), and there's also the raw CFS who could challenge at 13 for third. Second at best for 12 (Lealiifano), but probably lower in reality with JOC (James O'Connor), To'omua, even Harris and Cooper that could be considered...

Forgive me for being technical, but can you please point out where you called that A. Fainga'a would be out of the squad due to injury?

    Waratahs 2014

It will be Volavola or Lance on the bench. Both cover 10/15, with Lance also covering 12, with also 13 at a pinch, too. I think that Lance and Volavola will be in direct competition for the inside back / fullback bench spot. The other spot will be an outside back / wing, like Betham (if the...

Wallabies Squad - the Link Era

The ARU page used to have a great section in their homepage with every capped Wallaby in there. <edit> of course, including some stats like caps, points, etc. Unfortunately, they removed it for reasons unknown.

    Reds 2014

The Reds are fine at 12 and 13 next season currently - Taps, Harris, A. Fainga'a, CFS. It's at wing and fullback that they have lost siginifcant firepower and depth. Those are the positions to worry about. At this stage, I don't see who they can get to strengthen their side, either.

Wallabies Squad - the Link Era

Exactly, and I'm sure there was actually a couple more than two games, but the two most recent were the Cheetahs and the game before it (Sharks? Stormers?). When Morahan played fullback, Cooper defended in the line (but still dropped back a lot, like most 10s do these days - Carter, Cruden...

29 Reds caps and 21 Wallaby caps in 5 years due to injury, had huge raps on him. Went to Japan due to being continually injured in 2010, came back this year.

A lot of those heights and weights reported on club websites are pretty wrong (and are known to be). Weights are harder to tell, but heights are fairly easy to pick up. There's plenty of players you see that would be lucky to be 5'11 or 5'12 being listed as 185cm or some such height.

Oh, and don't forget that next year the matchday squads will be 23 with two props on the bench. Hence why at least one extra prop should be required in the squad (and perhaps EPS). Hopefully Anae goes to LHP full time and the Reds dig up another third string hooker from elsewhere.

    Reds 2014

In my opinion Brussow is a fetching style open side, which the Reds already have in Gill.

    Reds 2014

These days they probably need 5 props in the main squad plus at least one in the wider training squad, so you'd think that the Reds 5 props would be Slipper, Holmes, Anae, Daley, Owens. Denny and/or Kite would surely have to be in the EPS, or one in the squad and the other in the EPS if they...

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

Hard to tell, after the Lions break all of the Australian teams were well behind the 8-ball. Certainly none of the Reds forwards out there did themselves any favours. Reds pretty much played in a similar manner to the previous week and got deservedly beaten.

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

Game over, Reds flogged. Good game Crusaders, better in all departments (maybe scrum aside). When your forwards smash the other side, you set a great platform. For the Reds, forwards outplayed, midfield defence was a complete mess.

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

McCaw steals one but Heinz kicks it right out on the full. Reds going nowhere with the ball.

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

Crusaders been so much better, it's like a Super team vs a club team as Samo makes a mess off the back of the scrum and Reds finally clear. They force the Crusaders out 40m from the Crusaders line.

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

Clear separation, that will be no try to Heinz.

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

Taylor kicks the penalty. Crusaders 38 - 9.

    Crusaders v Reds Prelim 1

Cooper kicks and cops plenty of attention going through. Crusaders go wide, back to a penalty for not getting out of the 10 from Cooper's kick.
