    Rugby News from unexpected places

Funnily enough. Most Americans weren't all that bothered by the refereeing. Well, from the ones I've heard from.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I'll do my best. Houston - Sam Windsor and Matt Trouville. NOLA - John Stapleton Glendale - Luke White and Sam Figg San Diego - none Seattle - Tim Metcher and Peter Smith Austin - Tim Fitzgerald and Sione Fangaiuiha Utah - none.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

They have enough interest and committed parties to go to 12 by year 3. Which is when they'll assess the overall competitive mix and investment in the league before mapping out their move to 14 then 16. From discussions I've had, once they hit 12 they'll slow the growth for 2 to 3 seasons before...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

It's expected that the Ontario Arrows will be announced pretty soon after the MLR first season wraps up. Chicago is also a possibility. I know there is a group looking at Boston as well but they are unlikely before 2020.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Starfire can be expanded to 7000 if needed. Which could very well be the case next season. I've had clarification on Cuban. He's interested but wants to see it flesh out a bit more in regards to this season (progress through the weeks) before coming on board. Either way, big news for the league.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Dallas have just been announced as entering in 2019. The official 9th team in the MLR. Heavy hints that its backer may be Mavericks owner and noted Rugby supporter (and billionaire) Mark Cuban.

    Super W Competition

I love the reaction of the women in the background who were cheering her in. Great.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

They've shown an immense level of improvement since their first game against Glendale where they looked well out of their depth. Watching the Seattle/San Diego game on FB at the moment. Seattle are going to run away with it unless SD can sort our their scrummaging.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Shit. I swear I typed rogue on my phone.

The goal is to force real change.

Might be time to go rouge. Form a rebel body and try and bring everyone over. Then petition WR (World Rugby) to boot this bunch of ingrates out as the recognised body.

    Shute Shield 2018

Have you read my post? Because I'm not suggesting a cut of any kind. More an expansion. Perhaps some clubs may not be able to continue at that level for too long. They might need to bite the bullet and focus on competing at a more local level or look to join forces. Don't know until it happens...

    Shute Shield 2018

Well, let's look at the two biggest football codes in the country. I think that's all I need to prove that the model I suggested actually has worked. Twice.

    Shute Shield 2018

Well, club advocates point to the importance and tribalism of the game at that level. In my opinion if the Shute Shield seriously wants to be the true 3rd Tier or domestic championship they need to re-align how they compete. While previously I have supported the idea of a reduction of grades...

    Super W Competition

At least a double round of games. I'd also like to see a 6th team enter the fray. Perhaps do an NRC and look to get a women's Drua team. Regarding the Kiwi's. Yeah, I'd prefer to see us look to professionalize our teams first but it would be an interesting proposition going into the next TV deal...

    Super W Competition

Something I love most about the game is its ability to generate such wonderful sense of theatre and tension. Honestly, I believe it's unrivalled. And it proved so, so true with the Super W final. Gutting for the Queensland women. Just gutting. But.........NSW, NSW, NSW!!!

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And those are no different than any other nation who think they have a medal chance.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It's not just them. I know it's the same in Canada and certainly in the UK. You cannot tell me the Russians don't like seeing their athletes win.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No, no, no. Wamberal has lived in 5 countries don't you know. That simply isn't the case. It's only us and us alone who like watching our athletes compete. Everyone else is just happy to be there.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

You lived in Hong Kong right? Has it ever actually been a country in it's own right at any time in it's history? At best as far as I'm aware it's been an autonomous region but that doesn't qualify nationhood. Either way, as with your experiences in Hong Kong and the status of Rugby in the region...
