    Wallabies 2020

It doesn't happen often, TSR, granted, but a couple of recent examples are James Slipper and Jake Gordon. I'm not sure now, but maybe FF (Folau Fainga'a) also got a run in the squad when Steve Moore was still the incumbent Wallaby.

TSR, on Deegan. He is currently playing behind MT, the incumbent Wallaby, at the Rebels and doing a very good job when he comes on. There has been discussion here at times about using Deegan at 10 and MT at 12 for the Rebels. And as Drew points out, he is the most senior specialist No 10 going...

Yep. My ranking of the Locks would be Rodda, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Philip, Neville, Swain, Blyth, Hockings, and then Rob Simmons. Swain, Blyth and Hockings could be in any order and they'll be fighting for the top spots in a few years to come I think.

Froggy, I have always said, that as soon as KB (Kurtley Beale) is out of the picture (preferably State-wise as well as national from my pov) I will be more than happy to see deserving Tahs players in the mix. To me, KB (Kurtley Beale) has been the poisoned apple in the box that has tainted all he came in contact with. My other...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

DP, thanks for your concern. I am most hopeful though that I will survive any heart attack in the brain better than the idea proposer will survive the drowning in shit on the brain they must be going through to post such an idea.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I really think the Force would need to recruit to strengthen their roster next year and beyond, if it goes that way. I'm just saying I don't think they will be necessarily uncompetitive against one or two of the other Aus Super teams this year.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Dan, ever heard the saying "shit for brains"? Whoever put that idea up must be the personification of that situation.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I'm sure we all remember they won the NRC last year. And gave the Vikings (similar to an understrength Brumbies side) a bit of a hiding in the final. If they play in whatever comp is put in place this year, hopefully they will be able to build up their roster but they will not necessarily be...

Is Qantas still a (the) major sponsor of RA/Wallabies? It would presumably be an investment for them to put on a charter flight if that would get Ireland here for such a tournament.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Interesting that Colin Mansbridge (Crusaders' CEO) says that they have been in discussions with GRR for something like 18 months. I wonder if any of the Aus Super teams' CEOs could say the same?

    Wallabies 2020

A three-way tournament between NZ, Ireland and Aus would be just about the perfect way to announce the return of rugby from the virus wilderness.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Apparently the view expressed at the Brumbies fan video get together yesterday was that this year will most likely see a five team domestic comp (Tahs, Reds, Brumbies, Rebels and Force) and that maybe a TT comp could get up in 2021. See Brumby Jack's account on the Brumbies 2020 thread.

    Global Rapid Rugby

Let the story unfold before getting knickers in a knot. By some accounts, a whole lot of commercial interests are putting pressure on the Govt to step back from its current hard line demanding an investigation at the moment for fear of losing a very big part of their pie. Also, no or few Euro...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Dan, I don't have many qualms about anything you've written here, but it largely misses my point. I have not commented at all on the question of NZ players opting or not to play for Aus teams. It wouldn't concern me if the status quo continued where some players do opt to come here for whatever...

WOB I invariably concur with your observations about the game, and especially when it comes to the NZ side of things. But it's starting to wear a bit thin for people to contimually claim that NZ are not interested in a competition with Aus Rugby, or that NZ players wouldn't want to play for an...

D take a rational look at my initial post to which you replied. I specifically mentioned the period after the 2015 RWC. In that period, there was only one coach and My contention is that Cheika continued to pick him regardless of poor form based on his years of experience before. And yes, I do...

Michael, either you or I are at cross purposes (probably both). My post was in response to a NRC type competition based on using the existing Super teams supplemented with the Force and maybe one or two PI teams. Your comment talks about a competition based on amalgamated premier teams. To me...

    Australian Rugby / RA

BH I think there is a chance it could be viable. Making a bigger deal out of having a national champion after the competition concludes will help, and if the Wallabies are then selected primarily (with some Giteau-rule players) from that competition, it will grow in reputation, I believe. There...

Nah D. I find it quite easy, in fact, to argue that he hasn't earned the number of caps he's been awarded (as is the case with one other not to be mentioned atm). I don't hold any belief that many will agree with me, but I will continue to argue while ever he is in the frame for selection.

Yep, like crabbing cross-field and taking the space of outside players. His defense has long been unmentionable, mainly due to being virtually invisible.
