G&GR player of the year : Wales

    3. Barnes 2. Turner 1. McCalman. Never thought I'd ever give him a point in an international, but there you are. HM to TPN who's on the way back but not there yet, Horwill, JOC (James O'Connor), AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Ioane.

Wallabies vs Wales, Sunday Dec 4

Perhaps Scotty doesn't like Andre Watson very much and was comparing him to Kaplan?

    Making rugby No 1

So if Ruggo is right, what's the pathway. One pathway that uses the advantages that AFL and Mungo don't have is the Olympics participation in Sevens. As a kid my dream was to find a sport I could be good enough in to go to an Olympics. Sadly I never could find one. If we start now to promote...

    Super Rugby touch rugby

Although it is a transitory spend, you gotta agree its a better way to spend your dough than on an outfit she'll only wear once because "everyone's seen it".

    Waratahs 2012

The only teams that will not be in a state of fear come scrum time will be the Crusaders, maybe the Blues, the Brumbies, maybe the Force, the Sharks and on reputation maybe the Bulls, but they've got huge turnover. Only the Crusaders will have a better scrum and even then that is not assured...

Wallabies vs Wales, Sunday Dec 4

There's no doubt that, since TPN's performances started to deteriorate about halfway through the Super season, Moore has clearly been our number one hooker. This is yet another example of how poor the SMH journalists are at rugby. Maybe they select them for their ability to pump out stories...

    Wallabies vs Barbarians

That's an excellent review Gnostic and not just because I agree with most of it. It shows an in-depth study of the actual game, which is why I guess we all come here rather than read the paper. I wholeheartedly endorse your comments on both props and rugby reporters.

    Waratahs 2012

As you would already know from my "five wishes" article this has been something of a hobbyhorse of mine so I am absolutely stoked with Foley's comment!

    IRB Sevens 2012

Unless my memory is defective, Adelaide had 25,000 attendees on the second day compared to 15,000 on the Gold Coast. The reason advanced for Adelaide losing the event was that there was not enough crowd support for the event in Adelaide. Its not hatred of the Gold Coast, its just the extremely...

    IRB Sevens 2012

Just heard from the commentary that today's attendance is about 15,000. Very disappointing numbers.

    IRB Sevens 2012

Why its on Friday/Saturday rather than the weekend is a total mystery. Given that they took it off Adelaide because of lack of patronage, its a pretty poor turnout.

Have you seen the BaaBaa's team list? I think you have the rose coloured glasses on.

    Waratahs 2012

That's not good news on Peterson, we are already very skinny at lock. One injury and we could well be pulling someone from outside the 35 in round two. That would be a record, but not one that anyone would aspire to.

    National Academy 2012

The selections for the academy are screwed in the right direction because tight five players mature later than back five players. JOC (James O'Connor), Taps and Phipps would not be out of place in this demographic but they have gone way past the academy level already. So I like that there are 11 props in the...

State of the Union - 2011 Survey

Moses, Couple of mods to improve: South Australia isn't listed as a possible location. I know almost everyone here is an AFL nutter but there are still a few rugby tragics. No allowance for anyone to be over 59. Bruce, Lee and I will not be impressed! Unemployed was the only non-working...

    Waratahs 2012

Round one is the grudge game against the Reds for which you'd like to be at full strength and really ready to go in for the kill. But it doesn't look like the team will be at full strength. The returning from injury/not available list now includes: Ben Robinson: May or may not be at full...

    Waratahs 2012

Has anyone heard any more on how Will Caldwell is going. Has he retired due to illness or is he still trying to get back?

    Who is this player?

E&E post is the right interpretation of what I said. We push our young players, particularly our forwards, way too early. Not a single one of the NZ forwards from that match has yet made a Super squad. I think they will in time, but they'll have been put through the fire for club and province...

    Brutes 2012

That's a really inexperienced squad. Would not surprise to see the Bulls down the ladder in 2012 and maybe 2013. Lot of potential there though in the outgoing years.
