Brumbies vs Sharks Round 6 Super Rugby 2012

Alexander to THP is a recipe for serious trouble. The Sharks scrum was shaded against the Tahs but I reckon they'll be licking their lips now that Palmer is out.

Gradual Unfurling of New Wallaby Coaches

Its very sad for Phil Blake but the one member of the Wallaby coaching staff who did do his job exceptionally well up to the World Cup is going to be unemployed. There are two things he can hold onto: Pride in the job he did. The one area we played well at the World Cup was our defence. The...

    2012 S15 SA Conference

Once the Cheetahs are back in SA they'll have Juan Smith back at 6. With Brussouw at 7 they will become very formidable opponents.

Rebels v Highlanders Rnd 6 Super Rugby 2012

Its in Invercargill in the open in the evening. 80% chance of rain/sleet/snow with temperatures in negative territory (sometimes Fahrenheit). See Tahs vs Highlanders from two years ago. Choice of team from 1-9 is all that matters, the rest are at risk of hypothermia. Miracle if the Rebels...

    Rebels 2012

JOC (James O'Connor) to 12, Beale to 10, Kingi to 9 and Gerrard to 15? If they all last that will be some backline. Unfortunately, in the cold and wet of Invergargill they are not going to get many chances. See Tah game from two seasons back for a look at the conditions Rebels will experience.

Gradual Unfurling of New Wallaby Coaches

This has been the best piss-taking thread on G&GR ever or if there is a better one its probably good that I haven't seen it! Laughed so much I cracked three ribs.

2012 S15 All things Referee thread

Maybe "not straight" was the first infringeement so the wrong arm being used did not become pertinent. If I was the ref talking to the reviewer, that would be my defence.

    Waratahs vs Sharks - RD5 2012

I agree with that summation but... You can't go into a Super rugby game with no kicker. Look at what has happened to the Reds each match after they lost their proper kickers. Genia is a great halfback but he's not a kicker's bootlace. Unless Barnes' groin recovers or Foley proves he can...

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Two Fox reps in the G&GR top 5! Not sure if that means the G&GR crew are in a form slump or they've picked up their form from last year. If only I had left Kurtley in the team with Mogg on the bench. I'd be 4 points better off. I had big hopes for him after the first few rounds but now he's...

    2012 S15 Australia Conference

Not sure why Reds are second and Tahs are third. Equal points, Tahs have better points difference and tries for. Bonus points are being accumulated at a good rate by the Tahs - close losses and two four try wins. Eases some of the pain over the losses.

Gradual Unfurling of New Wallaby Coaches

The creeping (as in what a bunch of creeps) announcements of the new Wallaby coaches are hysterical only in the sense of mental hysteria. I was more thinking of enshrining Bruce's two unforgettable posts.

This page should be engraved in granite and kept in a museum for its hysterical value.

Welcome to the Tahs 2011 experience.

    Waratahs vs Sharks - RD5 2012

Some further thoughts on your thoughts: I have always liked McKibbens work and I struggled to see why he was given so few chances. From today's game I conclude that McKibben is definitely Super grade, you could quibble with a few of his decisions but for a first start it was an excellent...

    Waratahs vs Sharks - RD5 2012

Well, the Tahs just beat the team that beat the 2011 champions convincingly last week. Took a four try bonus point in the process that will come in very handy later. Not a perfect performance and there are a lot of things that need to improve, but like in the Highlanders and Reds games there...

"Queensland Rugby Records its Largest Growth in History"

You are absolutely right about needing to get exposure for the game if it is to grow. On the other hand, if I read another story about the ninety point thrashing that the Force handed us last week or indeed another story about how the Waratahs play such crappy rugby and kick the ball away...

    Rebels v Force - Round 5 - Super Rugby 2012

Last week the Force negated the Waratah scrum, which is the Australian benchmark. It was therefore no surprise that they towelled up the Rebels, who were going backward all night against the Tahs. The Force scrum is severely underated. Ma'afu, Charles, Longbottom, Cowan will dish it up to a...

    Bye Bye Paddy O'Brien

The key problem here is not that Paddy has gone into retirement but that Paddy has morphed across to sevens rugby so he can turn refereeing in that into a total disaster too. Just in time for the first appearance in an Olympics.

    G&GR Fantasy Rugby Competition 2012

Had JOC (James O'Connor) as captain too. Having him drop out so late is just so utterly unprofessional. No doubt keeping it a secret from the Force, but Fox needs to put a rocket under them. There is just so much extra that revolves around what they do. Fantasy is now part of the Super Rugby experience and...
