    Rugby News from unexpected places

Yet Omar, yet. Instant success isn't that important, if they're what truly serious, what matters now is probably players in that 5-14 year old range who'll be making up the majority of your squad for the 2035 World Cup Squad. The upper range of that group need to be able to get you into the top...

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

Pretty sure we've known that Hoff can't sing for a long time now. Remember Jump in my Car? Good God.

VRU Dewar Shield 2016 - and other comps

Ross seems to have taken over the regular running. I took over the lower bar while the Grades were playing, and given how much he was required here, there and everywhere, it's probably a good thing. Missed out on the evening stuff, had to be out pretty sharp at 5.20, both to make a dinner and to...

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

But it's not a penalty for tackle after the kick. It's a penalty for the high tackle, where the tackle occurred. Stock 7s procedure seems to be that unless the ball goes directly into the oppositions hands, any sort of kick that results in at least 15 metres "gained" gets an advantage over call...

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

I'll give you the deliberate knock on, but the no penalty was stock 7s. Ball is 20m downfield? Advantage is over regardless 49 times out of 50.

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

Don't mind the look of Winterstein from the limited time I've seen him. Don't think he'd make a fully fit 12, even if he played all 3 remaining tournaments, but still should be in with a chance given the current injury situation.

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

17 seconds left on the clock. Wowee.

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

Mistake after mistake for both sides. Enthralling game nonetheless. Stupid high tackle from the Kiwis resulting in a yellow card, but they got away with it.

    HSBC 7's: R 7 - Hong Kong

Pools mostly seem to go: 1v3 & 2v4 1v4 & 2v3 1v2 & 3v4 Which makes it difficult for teams in the bottom half of the previous tournament to break out, unless you luck out and get an Argentina, or a France or a Scotland. EDIT: And while it was our best result this season WOB, we only missed out...

    Waratahs 2016

When it comes to injury cover, the ARU gives a lot more leeway as long as they're playing in Australia. When Weeks and Rodzilla went down in 2012, the Rebels were denied permission to sign Somerville, who was playing club Rugby in NZ at the time, while were given permission to sign Steve Fualau...

    The Wallabies Thread

DHP and Beale would be fullbacks ahead of Hunt.

VRU Dewar Shield 2016 - and other comps

Quality day down at Box Hill. Convincing wins in all Grades for the home sides, and hosting all of the Old Farts sides meant a busy and productive day behind the bar.

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

BST at the moment so it's actually 12.30 starts. On a Saturday maybe, 9.30 works better, but on a Friday, the audience should be comparably negligible regardless of whether it's at 10.30 or 12.30, why should it matter?

    Rugby TV Ratings 2016

Bloody 9.30 spot without a 7.30 lead in.

Because Honey Badger. And 15s players playing in regular tournaments.

    How does that work?

    Aussie Player Exodus

List isn't the be all and end all. Cummins and Winterstein are back in Australia to play 7s, I knowingly excluded Lalakai Foketi and Jono Owen from the list whom are playing in the NPC/ITM/MITRE 10 CUP. And while there's depth, I'd wager at least a dozen couldn't ever play for Australia...

    Chiefs v Blues, Round 7

McKenzie. That's some Scottish right there, sorry Hugh, Scott Johnson will be offering the choice of any Maiden in Scotland soon enough. Unfortunately they're all 14 or younger, so it won't work.

    Chiefs v Blues, Round 7

Been some classic All Blacks style ruck work from both sides. No attempt to stay on their feet on attack from either team.

    Reds 2016

Shota was supposed to play for us in 2015, on his 3rd year. He injured his neck playing in the final of the top league, so we mutually agreed to end the contract. You'd probably be good to sign him.
