    Reds 2021

Have given this some thought - this could be a really hard spot to fill. Although I am making the assumptions that a) The Reds are happy with O’Connor at 10 and he plans to stay, or at least he hasn’t made it clear he intends to leave b) They are happy with Stewart at 12 and would prefer to...

To be clear I would much rather have a good, young 10 on our books. But personally I was very happy with how O’Connor went at 10. We have Hegarty & Stewart as back ups. A good young 10 as a project player would be a great off-season signing but, at this point, they are someone coming through...

I’m not suggesting for a second the Reds sit on their hands. But while your looking at the players we’ve lost, I’m looking at the ones we’ve retained, many who are very vocal about not wanting to leave - Hoopert, Tupou, Salakai-Loto, Wright, Blyth, Wilson, McReight, McDermott, Stewart, Petaia...

Well - I’m assuming most of us have club connections here and that most have social media. Let’s hope everyone shares the hell out of it.

True - but one of the problems the Aussie women have with the break down is that they are getting physically outmuscled there. Some of the girls spending some time playing against the league girls won’t hurt from that point of view I wouldn’t have thought.

I don’t know enough about the commercial realities of transfer fees to know if that would work in practice - but can I clarify one thing, is there any other agent that the QRU won’t deal with?

I guess it depends where you look for Swinton’s weight. But he does play a more physical game then Wright. I do think Hanigan would be consider too. The alternate strategy - which I’d love but I’m not sure is the best at the moment - is Wright at 6 & Wilson at 8 with Samu back on the bench.

I think I understood the point you made. But I personally think when it comes to a 1 on 1 choice for a lot of those spots the Brumbies guys are going to miss out or be on the bench. Tom Wright v Daugunu is the closest in my view and there are some clear arguments for White to be the starting...

Yeah - I do too. And I do wonder whether his better accuracy and work rate make up for the lack of size. Someone else suggested they think Wright could be our Fardy equivalent. I won’t be either surprised or disappointed if I am wrong and it is indeed one of the others.

To be clear my reason for picking Swinton isn’t that he has mongrel. I see him as the only option that ticks all the boxes I think we need to balance the backrow. All of the other options have shortcomings in particular areas. The fact that he has ‘mongrel’ is less important to me then the...

Okay - but none that addresses the specific things I asked about Piccone above, who you are suggesting that the Reds need to get back on good terms with. Nor for that matter does the fact that the players have claimed they were being harshly dealt with mean that is actually true. It certainly...

If he’d only had one good game he wouldn’t be in the wallaby squad.

    Reds 2021

Hasn’t Piccone openly expressed a view that the Reds/QRU/RA should just serve as a pathway to sending all the best players OS though? Hasn’t he been consistently underhanded in his dealings and worked to undermine the QRU in several player negotiations? Maybe I’ve misunderstood the situation...

BR - one really interesting thing I think your post throws up - if/when Lolesio gets a run in the 10 jersey, would be be better served with the experience of White inside, To’omua outside & DHP at the back of do you pick him with Powell, Simone & Banks. I don’t think there is any chance you go...

BR - I agree that pretty much all your team, except probably Hosea, Hanigan & Paisami (assuming Petaia is fit) could win a starting role. Disagree they would roll the team I posted - but happy to agree to disagree and I do think it’s a fantastic thing that we could even be arguing the point. I...

When is O’Connor contracted to? Maybe the plan is to keep O’Connor at 10. I’d imagine he is planning to stay until at least the next World Cup. I’d still love to see a young 10 being developed, but in terms of priorities maybe it is just a bit down on our list at the moment.

Yeah - sorry, I didn’t necessarily mean starting 10 first game - but with Deegan and others departing and from everything I’ve heard about him you’d imagine he’s a chance at some point.

    Wallabies 2020

He’s played State of Origin since then and is one of the games highest paid players. But he has played for a rubbish team that has been consistently badly coached. Plenty of people still rate him. Personally I never thought he was more than solid.

You’d actually think there would be a chance Gordon would start next year with To'omua at 12 - unless takes his sabbatical.

It’s not career defining though. Justin Hodges had an infamous shocker in his SOO debut. He turned out okay.
