New Zealand vs Australia Oct 11 2020 Bledisloe Cup

On a seperate note I thought we played the conditions much better than the ABs, which is pleasing when it seemed for a while we had lost any ability to play intelligent rugby.

Bledisloe 2 at Eden Park 18/10/20

How many times did he actually kick it in attack? I remember 4 - 2 good & 2 bad. 1 of those a shocker when he rolled it into the ingoal when we were hard in attack. The other one was under penalty advantage and he had the winger pinned and isolated in the corner but he needed to give it a lot...

Bledisloe 2 at Eden Park 18/10/20

I think there were at least 2 turnovers direct from To'omua’s defence, plus he made a number of other excellent tackles, both front on and cover. He made some good kicks and bad kicks. Sure - let’s try and reign in the bad ones, but I’d be surprised if Rennie wasn’t happy with him.

If I look at the things we did badly they are all systemic issues (IMO). Our breakdown presence has been soft for a long while. Our short kicking game was outlawed - so consequently it needs work. Our lineout throwing has been an ongoing issue for 4-5 years. Our composure at the death has...

Not for me, I though Samu was good. But across the board we were too passive and too slow as first support. A number of the turnovers happened when we actually punch through the defence line - so a good clean out would have opened the space up. That closest support needed to hit the break down...

With regards to the kicks - I think they can really help break the defence down - but the execution needs to be much better. The one that JB marked when the Wallabies has penalty advantage needed to be much higher so Koriobete could either contest or absolutely smash Barrett in the bottom...

How good is Wilson? At 21! Amazing performance by him.

We don’t need to pick the same team for the next 10 tests, but let’s give these guys a shot at going 1 better.

I thought that was a cracking game. Congrats to Hooper on the 100. Pick the same team next weekend.

I think both of the above. Certainly box kicking has to be a consideration for test rugby, but even though Gordon has only limited tests he is that bit older and a bit more experienced, and has been in pretty good form himself. Apparently as a Qlder I am supposed to be upset at McDermott’s...

If Lolesio is on the bench though, I assume that probably means McDermott is missing out. You surely wouldn’t finish with two first gamers in the halves? Maybe Powell for the value of combination?

That actually looks like a pretty good selection if the criteria is picking guys on Super Rugby form to me. The obvious exception is White - but there is a clear rationale there. The other questionable one would be Banks - but his early season form was good, then he got injured. He played well...

I don’t really know - but I got the impression from one of the mods posts that it wasn’t so much what he said, but the fact he was up to strike 48 or so.

I haven’t seen Henry play, but from what I’ve read/heard he could fit the brief. Good goal kicker too, isn’t he. I rate Jock highly at 15 and from what I hear we have signed a very promising up and comer who is still at school - so a prospect for 2023 - 2025 depending on just how good he is.

Lol - probably just keep it civil with other posters and you should be okay. It’s a pity - I enjoyed a lot of his posts and he had some good insights. Really struggled In a disagreement with his inner Leyonjholm though.

I guess it’s an option, but I think I’d rather keep him at 9. Maybe we just upskill Paisami to play 12.
