    Rugby - not set pieces

Streaks • Toulouse played poorly in Rd. 4 of the Heineken Cup when beaten by the Ospreys and weren't a lot better losing in the Top14 to surprise packet mountain team Grenoble a week later. Grenoble don't have a lot of stars and started with ex-Aussie players Danya Edwards, Henry Vanderglass...

    Rugby - not set pieces

London Irish Aussies Harlequins v London Irish – Rd 12 - In front of a crowd of 82,000 at Twickenham just before Christmas: • Prop Jerry Yanuyanutawa from Sydney University and the Brumbies stable was about to come off the bench for an injured Exiles team mate, and looking as wide as he was...

    Rugby - not set pieces

    • Munster v Saracens – Heineken Cup, Rd 3 - when the Sarries' reserve hooker came off the bench to throw the ball into the lineout: Mark Robson: “Let's see what John Smit can do because so far in this game the Saracens lineout has been about as effective as the Elvis diet.” • Toulouse v...

    Waratahs 2013

Yeah - Lopeti is in a kneebrace but said he would be OK after the Xmas break. McCutcheon told me he had corrective surgery recently and won't be running until the middle of January. As I said in an earlier post: AJ Gilbert could be a standby reserve for Hooper - he has the attributes - or maybe...

    Waratahs 2013

Yeah Jamie, Terry Smith and I interviewed Cheika, Folau, Gilbert and Horwitz at the same time last Thursday so the quotes and stories were similar. Jamie and I (and the Tahs media intern) had recorders. .

    Waratahs 2013

At least sudrugby said "could" and not "would". If he is going to the Top 14 the Waratahs and Wallabies will be affected, as hard bastard tight head locks are rare. Agen is struggling and could use him. There should be no hint of criticism if he does go: it's not as though he's a born and...

    Waratahs 2013

Yeah at least a few players get a chance but there's no way that it can be entirely inclusive; but I talked about that in an earlier post. By the way, Quick Hands, you would be useful at the Tahs; their passing and therefore their catching was execrable sometimes last season.

    Waratahs 2013

FYI - here is a blog with some info on the Tahs invited players. http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/waratahs-hopefuls-chase-the-dream/

    Rebels 2013

I note that Peter Samu who played for Victoria Colts a couple of years ago is running around with the Waratahs as part of the invited players group. He's a good player at no. 8 and was voted the 2012 Randwick Player of the Year. .

2013 IRB Junior World Championship - France

One of the reasons given in the forum - as to why the 2012 team was so crap - was because our team was so young - and it was such because the older eligible players were not up to much. Who can forget that an U/18 England Schools team had beaten an Oz U/19 team at Rushcutters Bay in 2011? Not...

2013 IRB Junior World Championship - France

You mean in 2013? No - he turned 20 in March this year. Incidentally, he represented Samoa in the 2011 tournament.

    Waratahs 2013

People should not get too excited about the invited players training group. It does not purport to be the next tranche of players that will run out on the park. If it were, criticisms would be valid - but we mention this kind of thing every year and next year will be no different. I could...

    Waratahs 2013

Another added in the last few days has been Jack Littlejohn who has been in the Roosters rugby league stable. He's a goal kicking five-eighth who can play fullback or in the centres.

    Waratahs 2013

Let's not get too excited about Willie; his trouble as a schoolboy player was that he was a bit of a gentle giant, though he was devastating when he made a contribution at the right moment. We have to see this affable young man playing 1st Grade on a regular basis before we can assess him...

    Waratahs 2013

Yes , but I'm not sure how long the 2012 intake is current for - anybody know?

    Waratahs 2013

Tahs Invited Players Group Willie Skelton added today - 136 kgs and 203cms and looking pretty fit too.

    ABs vs Poms

Exactly right daz - I spruiked the value of subscribing to Setanta a couple of years ago so much that one forum member jokingly accused me of being on commission. For a rugby tragic it is well worth the money. You can pay on a monthly basis to give it a trial at $17 a month, but it is cheaper...

    Waratahs 2013

Thanks for the support on the Quade Cooper post which was somehow on this Tahs thread. I turned it into a blog here: http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/is-quade-worth-the-money/ Cheers

    ABs vs Poms

Agree daz - that's why I wrote the words "based on the All Black game by itself". I knew too much about English rugby and its national team not to put something like that in. Having said that, it was the best game from England since they whacked the Wobs at HQ two years ago. 6N is going to...

    Waratahs 2013

Intruder They are not really signings as most would understand it. Nobody is saying these are the fellows who will be the next cabs off the rank though they would have the potential to be so down the track and worth developing. As you indicate: those fellows who just missed out on the EPS...
