    Shute Shield 2017

Great crowd, dry hard pitch, but a gale force wind blowing. Warringah def Manly 27-17. Warringah used the wind much more effectively, played a much smarter game and thoroughly deserved the victory. Josh Holmes a significant factor in the Rat's win.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The reason that the ARU, NSWRU, QRU et al are full of mediocrity and yes men is that in so doing they rarely have anyone to question the self-evident incompetence on display. And if these people had a shred of self-respect, they'd resign en masse.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Glad some ex team mates are calling Robinson and Eales out. Maybe Eales can make a TV show in 10 years time about how ashamed his was for his part in terminating the Force and his tenure on the ARU board in general?

    Australian Rugby / RA

    Sigh.

It just shows him to be a self-indulgent, self-absorbed narcissist. Does anybody really care about his pangs of conscience? Give me a break.

    Waratah Shield 2016

I understand that Augustines beat Westfield sports high by 50 plus yesterday. Wayne Barnes refereed the game.

Wallabies v All Blacks, Saturday 19th August, ANZ Stadium Sydney

Hope the Wallabies win. Hope the prawns in the ARU box are off, the meat full of grissle and the wine tastes like draino.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Sadly for Australian rugby, Twiggy is completely correct in his analysis of ARU corporate behaviour and accountability and the general incompetence of the management of the game by the ARU. Some of us have been making comments along these lines re the ARU, NSWRU, QRU et al for some time.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

This certainly takes things up a notch.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

One suspects that those running the ARU prefer to surround themselves with mediocrity and yes men. Organisations like the ARU prefer to keep high performers and independent thinkers out.

    Australian Rugby / RA

Undoubtedly we need to expand the base out of Sydney. I've said for quite a while on these threads that from my observations that Rugby WA was doing the best job of any state RU in expanding the base. They are starting to produce a flow of players into higher levels. Which makes the ARU...

I certainly wasn't expecting you to be thanking him for anything given your well known hostility towards Sydney club rugby.

Pulver still doesn't get it. Thank heavens for people like Brett Papworth.

    He doesn't have a f*****g clue mate.

FFS, Pulver still doesn't get it. Listen to Papworth speak and listen to Pulver speak. Then ask yourself; who sounds like they know what they're talking about? If you showed that clip to sports followers who didn't know who was who, I'll bet that none of them could correctly identify which...

    Waratah Shield 2016

Yes, it is. Not sure of the format. I understand that Augustine's played a game against a school from Coffs Harbour 2 or 3 weeks ago which they won. I think they are playing a game against Westfield Sports High this week or next week (maybe they've already played it).

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Unfortunately a slow death is what we're going to see. The only hope of a quick extinction is if crowds and TV viewer numbers continue south. At the moment it's a bit like standing on the bridge of the Titanic, we're just heading towards the iceberg and the ship isn't answering the helm.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

    Largely self-inflicted one must say.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Super rugby being killed isn't the worst thing to happen to Australian rugby.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The ARU and the NSWRU are headed by Sir Desmond Glazebrook types. Sir Desmond Glazebrook: They've broken the rules. Sir Humphrey: What, you mean the insider trading regulations? Sir Desmond Glazebrook: No. Sir Humphrey: Oh. Well, that's one relief. Sir Desmond Glazebrook: I mean of course...
