The difference is that they have a lot of depth, and we don't. (I have to say that I would not pick those two porkies in the same team, especially on fast grounds. Eddie seems to have a small man complex. He is tiny, to be fair).

We really need Kepu at his best. Here's hoping.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Appeasing the external parties is necessary to preserve some of our revenue, unfortunately. It would be a brave chap who cut that particular umbilical cord.

I think some of the pigs are doing pretty well, too. But it's early days. Isn't it always???

    Un-Australian Activities 2018

I don't mind being in the minority on this, but I have always found the "Crusaders" meme a bit distasteful. I am not a historian, but my understanding is that the original Crusades were not something that a civilised society should celebrate, or appear to celebrate. The local Muslim community...

    Reds 2019

It is interesting to observe the evolution in the haka. Way back when it was a perfunctory and slightly embarrassing shuffle. Now it is a slick, well choreograped extravaganza. This has not happened by accident. A lot of work has been put into it.

Are they in the top four or five when it comes to scrummaging? That is the most important requirement, the rest is great for sure. (I do not have any opinion about their scrumming, by the way. I do have some doubts about Tupou, however).

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There are no perfect solutions, of course. And nobody knows how any change would actually impact on the popularity of the competition. It is all about guesswork. Sometimes the guesses are wrong, sometimes there are seismic changes that appear from nowhere. If only we all as wise in real...

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Foxtel does have its advantages for a segment of the market. Older, more affluent, more likely to want premium sound through expensive speakers.

Talking of Hipwell and Merrick, those were the days (particularly when Hippie played) that NSW Country was a formidable side. BTW I was at Millner when they scored the famous "up the jumper" try. The thing about Catchy was that he was sensational at cleaning up bad ball. The Wallaby lineout...

Agree about Gordon. He is a tough rooster, his kicking is reasonable and his workrate is high. He could start if anything happens to Genia. He would not set the world on fire, but he would not make too many mistakes, or miss too many tackles.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

. It's a bit chicken and eggish. If the sport is not popular enough in the first place it will struggle, especially if the grassroots supporters are lazy and used to having everything done for them. Sad. Rugby supporters need to put their hands in their pockets and their shoulders to the...

Steve Williams is a great call. He took a while to blossom, but he finally came of age on a tour of New Zealand, and dominated the buggers. Gould, on the other hand.....could kick.
