    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The Waratahs and Reds won the comp in the last decade and it attracted no new viewers to super rugby as it was locked away on pay tv. Look at the rise of the big bash when it went to 10 again the NBL going to 10 helped that competition bounce back. You are never going to attract new viewers on...

If Optus want to pay more then Optus it is, I have no issue with Optus but the notion we have to leave fox because it’s dying is ludicrous

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

As opposed to Optus sport, Optus TV has already died once hardly has any presence now obviously there are some problems as they face competition in the entertainment space from low cost streaming platforms. But if they hold on to the AFL and NRL they will continue to dominate Optus sports as...

But what does FTA exposure give you? You reach a greater audience, the larger the audience you reach to more you get from sponsors.

Lol, you can’t really compare presto something slapped together by Foxtel to beat Netflix onto the market to Foxtel v Optus. Optus has no commercial presence in pubs. I do hope Optus can become a genuine competition to Fox but they are a long way off, Fox isn’t dying it’s evolving

Problem with the eagles it’s one game a year here and there. Doesn’t give anyone ownership of the team

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

People keep pushing Fox is a dying platform so it’s better to go to Optus for the pay TV part of the deal but Optus and fox are the same platform just delivered by different providers

Look nobody wants to talk about Folau I am not too sure what happened at the bulldogs as the most I followed was the headlines I do like the fact she is bringing change to the game and a new way of thinking I think ultimately her legacy will be realised after she is gone

Super Rugby Rnd 3: Rebels vs Waratahs

Feels weird not going, been to almost all the rebels home games over the past few years but with the rain and the poor performances nobody else wanted to go

Didn’t she run the bulldogs into the ground. History isn’t on her side the Folau saga just dragged on and on and left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Look she is trying to make positive changes at rugby Australia and I bloody hope she can succeed

I don’t mind that we certainly do have to try and re-establish the game in regional areas. Make them feel like they are part of the rugby community

Yeah I don’t know how the hell it would work I support the idea of a working towards a professional club competition in Aus but I don’t see in practice how it can work. Both Sydney and Brisbane have strong comps and then the standard falls away after that. Also those comps won’t want clubs...

No question on that front, I obviously love the game and see great value in it. Just think from a business stand point we could capitalise more if our rights went on sale after the AFL and NRL. As hypothetically say 7 or 9 gets their wish and grabs the rights for both comps and Optus gets one...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

A big problem with the rugby TV rights is the timing. Both the the NRL and AFL rights expire a year later so all the FTA networks will be desperately saving cash for them. Last time both 7 and 9 made serious bids to try and secure both and if day the AFL goes back to 9 and 9 keep the NRL both 7...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

That’s exactly right and professional also doesn’t have to mean big money either. Start small and work up from there the AFL took 10/12 years to go from semi professional to all the players being full time

Look that’s fair enough, I think they are just better of investing in what we have. They seem to think the NRC is field of dreams build it and they will come. That’s not how it works, you have to sell the competition, I have been to a few Rising games but never been back since the 2018 season...

Still a step backward you put in one club side from Melbourne and you isolate all those other people who don’t go for that club

13% drop in Kayo subscribers at the conclusion of the World Cup. Imagine how much more that number would fall if it lost rugby all together. You can see Fox’s tactics they are trying to scare all the other bidders away and retain the rights at a lower price. You think of how many dollars they...

    Super Rugby Rd2 2020: Brumbies v Rebels
