Bledisloe #4 New Zealand vs Australia Nov 7 2020

JB my concern is that until an effective jumping No 6 or 8 comes along, the backrow balance will still be out of kilter with Fraser in 7. Hence my call for Liam at 7 right now.

Thank you TSR. Contrary to popular opinion I do not only or even mainly advocate for Brumbies players. In test match considerations they are all Wallabies or potential Wallabies no matter which Super Rugby team they play for. It is likely at the moment that most of the players being discussed do come...

It doesn't matter what happens in games not involving the ABs, nor what the ABs themselves do. It isn't a viable option against the ABs because they attack flaws in the defense so much more efficiently and more often than anyone else. Unfortunately, as discussed above the Wallabies play the...

Broken record stuff JB but really how much grunt does Hooper provide when he's usually many metres away from the breakdown?

    Bledisloe # 3 - Saturday 31st October, ANZ Stadium

Top stuff BH. The second try was certainly poor defense by our three players and my earlier criticism of DPA was just a response to what I think is overstated hype about his game. He certainly wasn't the worst in the Wallabies but he also wasn't blemish free. No way I am putting more blame on...

Makes no difference being a 2 defending against a 10. He just didn't make an attempt and that was atrocious. Lolesio made a totally ineffective attempt and too close to the tryline but it was an attempt and many are calling for him to be dropped. In the moment of the game Mo'unga was BPA's...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

    Extremely tiring isn't it.

It seemed that every Wallaby ruck was under pressure while our backrow was often as not missing in action. At AB ruck, we had very few players contesting the ball. But others say our backrow isn't a problem. It is not the problem but it is a significant problem that contributed to so much...

Yes, I saw that. If he can keep it up he'll definitely have another skill to offer.

BPA went ok in a poorly performing team, but he was atrocious in defense in the lead up to Mo'unga's first try.

Because they pick 6s and 8s who can jump effectively. We don't atm have that advantage. Samu can jump at No 2 and makes steals on oppositi90on ball, but apparently Rennie isn't enamored. Hanigan jumps (but did he even take a catch in either Bleds 2 and 3?) but he lacks physicality in his play...

I would Cyclo, for the reasons I have stated. It might be that he suffers because the 6 and 8 can't jump effectively, but we have another 7 who does jump and is very effective at it. For Hooper, it is just the same as it was for Pocock over recent years - best in the position but loses out due...

Seb, think you'll find that Wright had the most or second most steals in SRAu. He is very effective jumping at 2 in the lineout.

Wright played out of position in Bledisloe 2. He is a 7, not a 6 though passable there too at Super Rugby level. I don't think there would be a player anywhere who hasn't had the ball stripped from them by one of the NZ No 9s. Doubt it will happen again any time soon.

But, but... don't forwards win us the game and the backs decide by how much? Can't see much happening against the ABs while we persevere with a couple of the forwards who have been fixtures during the worst period in history for the Wallabies.

And played 6 to Hooper's 7 - same old, same old. But it was the correct selection then. Never was since.

Agree with all but Hodge to replace Simone at 12. Simone is the most creative backline player we have and will get better and better with game time.

No reliable lineout jumper in that lot Seb. That is the unbalance that accompanies Hooper at 7. My backrow for Bledisloe 4 would be 6 Wilson (or Valetini - we really are missing a proper hard man), 7 Wright (captain), 8 Naisarani.

In my ideal world, KOB, Liam Wright would not only play 7 but would be captain.
