    Reds 2021

I’ll add that I think it is worth reflecting that plenty of good players across sport get dropped or overlooked at times. In the squad currently pretty much all of the players out there have been dropped/rotated out at some point. More broadly across sport a short list off the top of my head...

Last year it came out that Thorn ‘rotated’ McDermott, but with feedback that he needed to improve his passing. I see this as a similiar thing. Both these guys are clearly in our best 15 - but both could clearly be starting Wallabies and I think Petaia particularly and to a lessor extent...

    Waratahs 2021

Agree - but recruiting a top level lock or two, preferably one at least who brings some experience and physicality, has to be a priority.

I think it’s a fair point. I’m a big fan of both players, but both are letting themselves and their team down with lack of attention to detail. Thorn is big on accountability. Better to give them a kick in the butt now, IMO, and give them the opportunity to bounce back and be good to go when the...

Super Rugby AU 2021 Team of the Week

I think Zander is a toiler though. Won’t come up with many eye catching plays, but contributes plenty. Whereas last year he was a young bloke who could survive at this level, but you didn’t get much more out of him. More Ala'alatoa, less Tupou. Not expecting him to be in the Wallabies squad...

    Wallabies 2021

I don’t agree with the first bit. He was inconsistent, but he was very good in a couple of games.

The guy under pressure IMO is Swinton. The quality of his 30 minute shift for the Wallabies will probably get him in, but he’s done nothing to deserve it this year.

    I’m guessing workload management

    Wallabies 2021

By and large the observations have been fair, I think. Overall Vunivalu was good, but he did jam in twice when he shouldn’t have and both ended up being tries. The claim of Muirhead taking him to the cleaners was a bit of hubris - but whatever.

Pretty much. That’s not to say refs shouldn’t be doing their video analysis and picking up illegal tactics and repeat offenders. Their should be regular dialogue between teams and refs about getting the scrums right. But 9 times out of 10 the refs will reward dominance and I think that’s largely...

    Reds 2021

I’ve read plenty of times that both on here and on the Roar that Tupou will get found out by better refs. But he’s played under the best refs there is and while he does give away a few penalties, by and large he earns more than what he gives. So I don’t know what refs you, and others, are...

Super Rugby Rnd 6: Waratahs v Reds

Yeah - his issues were off field, not on it. Good player. Just not clear if he has become a good person.

    Reds 2021

Yeah - but to be fair if someone posted a analysis accusing the Brumbies scrum of doing it, I’d be personally email it to Nic Berry & Damon Murphy and demanding they take action against the cheating b@@tards. I can’t begrudge other teams supporters making lots of noise when it happens to be the...

    Reds 2021

Hang on a sec - it’s all well and good for us as a community to mount a concerted campaign to stamp out the blatant cheating that those rotten poms were using to achieve some sort of shallow, morally corrupt victory at test level, but this is an outrage!!!! Clearly Zander is just trying to move...

Isn’t it at least possible we all picked Robertson because he played well?

    Reds 2021

I think that’s logical. I’d imagine there is a fair chance that Ruan is still a better prop and I don’t want to discount the importance of Nonggor playing Prems. But I guess I am looking at this game in isolation and see it as an opportunity to give him some super rugby experience, noting that...

Fair enough. Stand corrected. Still - like Ben Darwin says - ever good prop starts out getting their head shoved up their own arse.’ Now is a good time for him to get some experience.

    Reds 2021

To build depth, Thorn has to roll the dice somewhere. Nonggor played Super last year and was okay from what I remember. Start him this game and I’d start Uru at 6 or 8 too. Maybe rotate the whole front row. Leave everyone else.
