Super Rugby Au Rnd 3 Waratahs vs Force 5th March, Sydney

It would certainly be a gamble, but by your attitude it will never be tested. Western Sydney apparently in majority won't support the Tahs but some do support the western based SS sides. Are the 2 million odd residents of the west forever to be denied an opportunity to participate in the premier...

Super Rugby Au Rnd 4 - Brumbies V Reds Gio Stad Canberra 13Mar

Ruan Smith? Think the post was referring to Ryan Smith (second row). Lolesio is a class player. I reckon he'll go ok against JOC (James O'Connor) and the over-hyped Stewart. Paisami and Petaia in the centres will be a challenge. EDIT : Just noticed on the Reds thread that Ruan is back in the country. Looks...

Super Rugby Au Rnd 4 - Brumbies V Reds Gio Stad Canberra 13Mar

Forwards win matches. With Ala'alatoa, Slipper and McInerney all out or likely to be, this is set up for a Reds win. There must be doubt about Samu and Ikitau too after the carnage of the Rebels game. Reds by at least 10 - 12. Expect the Brumbies to look a bit like this (assuming Fainga'a...

Super Rugby Au Rnd 3 Waratahs vs Force 5th March, Sydney

No chance BH that a significant number of potential fans in the western region of Sydney might support a Super Rugby side while having little connection to the local SS sides? I suspect there are many like me in Canberra who have followed the Brumbies since inception but who have no club connection in...

Super Rugby Au Rnd 3 Waratahs vs Force 5th March, Sydney

The geographical centre for the Waratahs, certainly Wamb. But isn't there a chance that there is another large supporter base in western Sydney who are not attracted to the Tahs?

Super Rugby AU 2021 Team of the Week

Agree on the 14. I thought Anderson was surprisingly good for the Rebels and Ralston was very good at the Force. Hardly a split hair between the three of them, so stick with the local because that's what we probably all do where it's a close call.

    Reds 2021

All in the eye of the beholder Z_C. The Rebels led the Reds for almost the whole of that game, while the Brumbies led the scoreboard for around half the game. The Brumbies also won a bonus point by winning by three tries. Some good evidence that just maybe the Brumbies fared a bit better against...

    Brumbies 2021

The Brumbies strength, like the Crusaders, is that when a player goes down, through injury or loss of form, there is another Super Rugby player available to step in. ATM Hansen is one of those next-players ready and willing/able to go. He knows his time will come, and meanwhile he is making his mark at...

Banks 12 was a difficult choice as there were really no standout performers. Backline selections as a whole reflect the two best...

Super Rugby AU 2021 Team of the Week

KOB, two teams won this weekend and two lost. Only four selections from the winning sides? Apparently we watch different games. :( Or is it a matter of thinking that the sum of the parts is stronger than the individual parts in the Force and Brumbies?

    Refereeing decisions

So, I assume you don't see the inevitable crooked feed to just about every scrum now being the acceptable standard throughout the whole of world rugby? Or is it just that referees around the world are being consistently inconsistent?

Super Rugby AU Rnd 3: Brumbies vs Rebels, Sat 06/03/21

Ala'alatoa's red card was right. Hardwick should have been a penalty for lifting, which he did and that was the sole reason McInerney hit the ground shoulder first. Hodge probably should have been a YC for his challenge on Banks (was it?) in the air.

If you're giving him away KOB, send him to the Reds. He may make the grade one day, but still short of Super standard, especially in defence, right now.

    Refereeing decisions

I agree Pfitzy, but it is as good a bind as many by backrowers at scrum time. Think the law has changed through common usage.

Brumbies v Waratahs, Sat 27th Feb, Canberra

Could just be a matter of skill though BH. Both Neville and Swain are the front defensive players in the Brumbies maul, and on as many occasions as they don't, one of them will also latch onto the ball carrier and bring the maul to a conclusion.

BJ, any leads on why Tucker is on the bench in Frost's place? Also, heartening to see Kata on the bench - hard on Fines though.

Super Rugby AU Rnd 3: Brumbies vs Rebels, Sat 06/03/21

It's virtually a home game for the Rebels after being here in Canberra for the past 3 - 4 weeks. And gives them free rein under current restrictions to head to Perth next week. I'm sure the players are all over their travel issues atm, wouldn't it be nice if you could also let the issue die.
