    NSW AAGPS 2018

Was a fantastic game Scots up 5-1 at half time. Full time 7-7. Biggest crowd of the year and the only time in the season where there are rugby like war cries and chants. Great atmosphere. New won the 14 As 8-4. Didn't stay for the whole day, but usually all the games are close right...

As an aside Rich, New v Scots in water polo tomorrow. Should decide GPS premiers and Combined GPS/CAS Premiers in 1sts, 2nds & 16As. I saw the 1sts play each other in a trial a couple of weeks back and Scots won that by a goal.

They normally have a meeting around about now to finalise/confirm arrangements for the following year. I'm sure it would be complete, just awaiting final approval. Will be interesting to see how they've matched the different schools up in the pre-season/trial phase.

I think the ad was for 2017, so the position has already been filled. If you scroll down the link you see the 2017 rugby season and when you click on the link at the bottom to the job add it's been removed.

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

Sadly, that's just as possible. But please, don't associate me in any way with the business of the ARU.:)
  6. Quick Hands

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

The rebel in me likes to think that the Barbarians appointed Jones deliberately, knowing he'd have a go at the ARU. They may hold Pulver, Clyne et al in as low esteem as I do. The fact that the ARU made no contact with the Barbarians in the lead up to the match suggests that the message was...
  7. Quick Hands

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

I note that no one from the Barbarians club has come out and disassociated themselves from Jones' comments.;) Maybe they agree with him?

Or Palu being penalised for cleaning out a man "too far from the tackle" but Hunt did the same thing only worse in almost the same spot in the 2nd half without penalty, or penalising the dominant scrum for walking around when the Wallabies were going backwards.

I think that referees at the professional level (who are highly paid) should be subject to the same accountability as anyone else. I agree in general terms with his criticism of the way the referee handled the game, which doesn't mean that I agree with every single point that he made. I...
  10. Quick Hands

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

Jones was wrong about the try - no question. I don't think he said that his players didn't enjoy the Barbarians experience, I think you'll find he said that they didn't enjoyed the way it was refereed. I thought he said that the players enjoyed the experience of being together and being...

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

Yes, had they have got nothing out of it they would have deserved criticism. Why then, as they were clearly going to earn somthing from the match, did they not try to promote it? Why did they not try to use it to get some much needed good publicity? I pine for an administration which...

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

You're entitled to your view. No need to use offensive language though. Usually these games are refereed by an experienced official who is either about to retire or just retired - Craig Joubert would have been a good fit for example. Your clearly don't like Alan Jones - and you're not...

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

He's a polarising figure and there are those who hold a similar view to yours. There are plenty - including it seems the players - who hold a different view.
  14. Quick Hands

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

That's what we thought until this intervention from Clyne and Pulver this week. So given that it seems that they were in fact going to earn money from it, one again asks why they did zero promotion and spent the past few days trying to distance themselves from it. With a bit of investment on...

And where I was sitting, pretty much everyone was expressing the same thoughts as Jones - some much more forcefully. EDIT: And I love the way the the ARU trouser $1.6 million from a game that they say had nothing to do with them and for which they did zero promotion.

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

I thought that he was remarkably restrained. He's pretty much 100% right IMO. http://www.rugby.com.au/videos/2017/10/28/post-match-press-conference-barbarians That referee personified everything that is wrong with rugby - an official out of his depth and with no feel for the game. It's no...

The type of knob that gives all refs a bad name.
  18. Quick Hands

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

He was appalling - more blatantly one-sided than Owen reffing the All Blacks. That said, I think he was a Kiwi.
  19. Quick Hands

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

Presumably, as the ARU/RA disowned the fixture yesterday. I guess that would mean that Pulver, Clyne et al would not have gone and would instead have gone to a NRC game?;)

    Barbarians Australian Tour 2017

That's right, same injuries could have occurred in the NRC.
