2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

I know it is a very long time ago, but I was at the SCG for Michael Cleary's last game as a Wallaby. They played France. The crowd was just under 8k. We were a niche sport then, we are a niche sport now, in this country. We have had bursts of comparative success, for sure. But at the end of...

Randwick Vs Argentina 7/9 @ Coogee

Why? An international side plays a club outfit. The international side are in full training, and are building up for a World Cup. The club side held the internationals scoreless for 20 minutes or so. If you think that is an awful performance, you need to get out a bit more.

Wallabies v Samoa, Sat 7th September, 7.30pm, Bankwest (Parra) Stadium

Better still, make them jog in full military gear, carrying their rifles over their heads.

I doubt we would go into a game against Wales with Dempsey at 6. Fiji, yes, I can see that. So you are right, I reckon.

Randwick Vs Argentina 7/9 @ Coogee

It is definitely shit for supporters of a visiting team at Camperdown, that is surely not in question?

Randwick Vs Argentina 7/9 @ Coogee

There is an incredible depth of Australia's rugby history bound up in the Shute Shield. Randwick, of course, are a huge part of that. Randwick's running rugby and radical backline formations changed our game for the better, and led to a fair bit of success. Not only that, but they have...

    Rugby World Cup 2019

Sam Lousi is one that we should have worked harder to retain, I reckon. That said, it is great to see him in the Ikali Tahe squad.

Wallabies v Samoa, Sat 7th September, 7.30pm, Bankwest (Parra) Stadium

I see that TEN has the game on a back channel. A bit disappointing, but better than nothing I guess.

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

So if the other two selectors do not want a particular player, are you saying that the coach can use a casting vote to override their votes? If that is so, what is the point of having the other two selectors? Who would want to be part of a set-up like that?

    Ideas for NRC

Yep, although there might be such a thing as too much rugby. But I think this is worth talking about.

That might be because league buys the players, maybe wingers are more suited to league, comparatively, than some other rugby positions? It goes without saying that there is more money, at an earlier age, in league than there is in our game.

    Shute Shield 2019

Sad loss for the Woodies. He started the season a lot better than he finished it, though. Maybe he had this offer in his back pocket, and eased off a bit.

    Waratahs 2020

I assume that it would be a decision that would involve the whole of our actual and potential Test players, not just the Tahs (unless he is willing to come without an RA top up). That means in my simple world that he would have to be in the top eight or so locks in the nation. With some of the...

We just might not need him. In fact, I reckon there is a fair chance that we won't.

    Shute Shield 2019

One sad aspect of this is that Phipps is the grandson of a Wallaby, who played for Gordon. Can you imagine the grandson of an All Black playing for a different club in the same vicinity? I am not criticising Phipps, but it seems to me to be emblematic of the lack of rugby tradition which is...

    Australian Rugby / RA

Talking about great brains, Mark Ella's column in the Weekend Rupert is about Kerevi's inability to pass. According to Mark, he can offload, but not pass properly. Mark could turn him into the next Nonu, according to Mark anyway.
